converting aida to linen
I plan on using 32 count linen for this project and wanted to know how large a piece of linen I should purchase including a 6 inch border for framing. Thank you.

The answer is 19 x 24 inches for stitching over 2
13 x 16 inches for stitching over 1

Yes, I did include an extra six inches for wiggle room

Hi there

If this pattern was stitched on 32 linen it would be 6.25 X 8.93 just do not forget to add the 6 inches for the border and framing.

janedave, I just entered the calculations for this picture on the "Fabric Calculator" on this website under "Cross Stitch Fabric". I entered the stitch size as 200 wide x 286 high, and clicked on 32 count linen. It tells me that the stitched area will be 12.5" wide x 17.9" high. If you add 3 inches to each side and 3 inches to the top and bottom, that brings the fabric size to: 18.5" wide by 23.9" high. This is a totally different calculation than the last one I see posted!! Hope this helps! Carol

Carol -- that is how I did my calculations except that I used a calculator. I then rounded up the stich area up and added the extra six inches. Jane's question was what size fabric to purchase. I didn't include the stitched area because for two reasons -- one is that I was lazy and the second to make sure that I was answering the question that was being asked. Either way, you and I ended up with the same answer. Thanks for re-checking the math.

Hi Nancye, I was puzzled at Miss Crosstitch's total for the stitched area. It sounded very small to me 6.25 x 8.93 ?? Did you read her entry? Yours was fine. You will notice in my post I said the LAST size posted which wouldn't be you!!
