Hi Caryn! Yes....you certainly CAN make this picture on a 14 count fabric. This is the trick!!
If you make it as they have suggested on 18 count...the actual design area will be 16.7" x 13.4".
If you use 14 count aida....The design area will change to 21.4" wide by 17.2" high. When ordering the fabric we usually add 3 inches to each side, and the top and bottom to allow for appropriate framing. It is a beautiful picture. Reminds me of my hometown in Virginia. To this day there is a very large city park which has a pond and houses many swans....I would like to make this myself!! Good Luck. Carol

Caryn that is what is so nice about cross stitching. There are no set rules for size of patterns. You can adjust patterns to fit you own use. There are no "stitch police" to come after us. LOL Yes the amount of floss you will need will be different. I always have my own stash of every DMC floss color so I have enough for a project.

It is such a beautiful project.

Caryn, Syagel is right...there are no "cross stitch police"! I looked at the colors required and see that there are approximately 68 colors in this design. I put it on my "wish list" on this site this morning!!
