Dye Works Colors
I would like to know what Dye Works colors I need for the 2015 Flora McSample's Stockings. For some reason, they are not listed.

New patterns are listed here frequently. Kristi has to list the supply list for each pattern one at a time. This can be a time consuming project. Especially long when there are patterns by Artecy and Heaven and Earth that have a lot of colors of floss.

Kristi will see your request on Monday morning. You will probably see the supply list by mid-day

Hello,

Not all of our patterns will have a supply list listed for them as of right now. We are working this and trying to get them up as soon as we can but if there's a supply list that you would like see and it's not listed, just contact us either on here or via email and we will get it posted within business day. I have added the supplies needed for this design so you should see them all listed now :) Hope this helps. Thank you!

So thoughtful Kristi to add the DMC colors if the stitcher chooses not to use Dye Works. As I remember with the over dyed floss you stitch the complete cross stitch X before moving on to the next stitch so it takes a bit longer to stitch and it seemed like a bit more floss

Kristi, you should lobby for the manufacturers/printers/publishers to include a scan for all materials needed to complete the projects...You might have to delete the non-available ECS items, but stuff would go quicker! :) Maybe they could categorize into type of supplies... don't have a clue if it's possible...just a thought. :)

Thank you Nancye and Kristi for providing the list of Dye Works colors. Very much appreciated.

If you have any tips for stitching with Dye Works, they will be welcome as this will be my first time using this floss.

Sally, remember to do 1 complete X at a time so that the shading is correct. When you need to start another strand of the same color, technically, you would start the new thread with the same shade of the floss that you finished with. I'm not good at doing that -- a bit over the top for me.

Just a thought to "chew" on. I did a project with over-dyed floss. The project had a house that called for the same color of overdyed floss. I DID stitch the complete cross stitch with each stitch but I noticed after about 5 rows that the floss was coming up with the same exact section of the same color on each row of the thread. So I ended up with a "Box" of the same color on the house. I apologize if I can't remember the name of stitcher that helped me out, To correct this, she told me NOT to
do straight rows like this xxxxxxxx for the house, but to "mix up" some of my stitches like this:
xx
xxx xxxx x by stitching a few stitches above, below, diagonally and it worked! The subtle
xx

variations of the floss was scattered throughout the walls of the cross stitched house. I STILL DID EACH X COMPLETELY before I moved onto the next stitch even using this technique.

Bermuda, that probably happened because the shades repeat through out the skein. Apparently each row had the perfect number of stitches to get the repeat. .... probably couldn't have gotten that effect purposely without some hard work.

Sometimes serendipity is good and sometimes not.

You're right! In this case it was NOT. It looked like a box of the same color on the front outside wall of the house where there were just the same number of stitches across and about 8 rows down without a window or anything to break up the spacing....got it fixed! Was happy as a clam in a bed of seaweed....

Thanks for the lessons Sharon and Bermuda. I'm feeling intimidated, but we'll see how it goes. At least these mini stockings are small projects to learn on and I can always go back to using DMC if I don't like the results.
