Biggest Part
It looks to me like Santa is the biggest part of the picture. I started in the upper left hand corner. If I were to work down towards the toy bag and then work on Santa would it be a mistake? I've been using a highlighter to mark areas I've done.

MY OPINION -- As long as you are keeping track of where you are stitching that would not be a mistake.

Did you make copies of your pattern and put the original in a safe place? If no, that would be a very big mistake.

katye, As long as you keep track of what you are doing....it is all good!! There is quite a bit of blue at the top of this picture and I would probably work my way down...and over to begin doing some of the area where the colors change. I hope you will post a picture of this when you finish. He is really cool!! Did I read...62 DMC colors??!!

For the longest time I have always started my pictures from the very top or corner and worked my way down. Last year I began to copy the pattern and then, like you, use a highlighter to keep track of where I am at, so not to lose my place. I know it goes against directions as to begin in the center, I just make sure I double, sometimes triple count to make sure I'm lined up correctly. Will be anxious to see the finished picture. Have fun!!!
