Remove the tree
If I were to remove the tree behind Santa'S Bag would it be a mistake? What could I fill it in with?

You could put little angels flying in the sky. I would scatter them all over the whole sky (if you take my suggestion) just to balance it out. Or maybe little reindeer. I would probably just stitch in sky and stars and leave the other trees out, too. As for the snowflakes, I would use silver or white beads.

There is nothing such as a "big mistake" if the stitcher wants to add of delete something in a pattern. It then makes it "uniquely yours"! Go for it! I agree with Cory that you might want to consider adding snowflakes or something in that area to balance it out....

Go for it! or move it a little more out of the picture. I'd probably go with stars or snowflakes.

I think I would "shade" the sky like it is between his other arm and the roof....knee, whatever... :)

leave it out ... replace it with sky ... shade it like it is on the other side of Santa ... light blue into the darker shades, add stars

I like the idea of replacing the stars with white beads

Ok. I have decided to do the tree behind Santa's bag. I'm just not sure where to start working on it. Does anyone have ideas.

KATYE -- don't jump around. If you start stitching in several different areas you are very likely to get of count.

Been there and done that

Great ideas. If you stitch the trees you might use a lighter green color floss. Then they will not be so noticeable.
Likely they will appear further away from the houses. All suggestions are good ones. You are smart to allow plenty of time for the Christmas theme.

Katy, why do you not want to have the trees. I think they look nice, it's part of the motif. Sky is about all you can fill it in with but you have to be mindful of the shading. I have made minor adjustments in my time but in this case I would leave it as is. Of course you can finish this by November. A couple hours each day will do it. Just start in one place and continue on. I agree with Nancye that "jumping" all over the pattern causes problems.

I admire all stitchers that can think about Christmas before Spring has even started. There is no way that I could do anything as ambitious as this.
