25 count Lugana....
Does anyone do their stitching on 25 count Lugana? Any pros and cons using it? Thanks for input!

Hi:

I use it for most things I stitch. I find it is a lovely soft and flowing fabric.

I haven't any complaints about it.

Bye for now and happy stitching

I am working on 25 Lugana for my project. I am working one thread over one Lugana thread and it is more time consuming for sure but makes a beautiful finished piece. The fabric itself is lovely and soft. Might be for a more advanced stitcher. What do you think girls?

Bermuda, Last year I was considering ordering "The Toy Box" from Heaven & Earth Designs...which I eventually did. If you go to page 111 on the pull down menu here...there is a posting "Can this be done?" by s1fuss....if you scroll down the page I asked about using 25 count and ttcantiques gave me quite a lengthy explanation that she does ALL of her work on 25 count using 1 thread and says all of these designs "look like a painting" when you are finished. I printed out that info...and kept it! Because of her encouragement I ordered the pattern and I also ordered 25 count Cream Dublin linen because I like to work on linen so much. (The pattern calls for either linen or even weave) Let me know what you think!!!

Isn't ECS great for keeping all of our old postings??????!!!!

I ONLY use 25 ct Lugana for my stitching. I was introduced to it thirty years ago and have used it ever since. I typically use two strands of floss over two threads unless I am outlining, then I use one thread. Lugana frames well and looks nice.

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR EXPERIENCE AND ADVICE ON 25 count Lugana fabric!!! It is SO NICE to get input from all of you experienced stitchers when I need your help!

I do have one more question in regards to going "over two" on 25 count Lugana. There wasn't any DISTORTION of the picture by going " OVER TWO" on the 25 count Lugana was there?

Okay, now I have a question..if you use two threads over two Laguna threads won't that make the finished piece much larger? I'm laughing at myself because as long as I have been cross stitching I have never thought about that (smile)..

Yes, the pattern will be larger by stitching over 2 "squares" of fabric. Have you noticed that at times when you are trying to have the finished "stitched area" of your pattern to be a certain size (either larger of smaller) that looking at a larger count does not get you to the size you want it to be? I found in some of my project planning that if I stitched 28-count "over 2" it was too LARGE, then figure
28-count "over 1" is too SMALL,....so my tape measure and calculator would begin our "quest" for the completed stitched area I wanted...this I have been able to work out after playing with the fabric counts and "over" requirements.
My main concern is "distortion" of the picture where one has to stand far enough away to allow the pattern to come together as a picture when it is complete.

I have never noticed a distortion in stitching over two threads of Lugana. I have stitched most of Cindy Rice (Lilac Studio) florals only on 25ct Lugana with great success and yes, the pieces are larger when going over two threads. It must not be too bad as I won a ribbon at the state fair for Camelias by Cindy Rice in years past.

Stitching over tow 25 Lugana ..would that be the same size as say an 11 Aida? One thing I know for sure it sure goes faster. Bermuda, I sent Michelle at HAED a note about the colors of Viktoriya being green and she stands firm the colors are correct.. I'll post it when it's completed but the colors are nothing like the picture..too sad because Viktoriya is so beautiful in the picture.. How is your Sacred Hour coming along?

I love stitching on Lugana. It's so easy to do fractionals which I like doing. There are no cons in my opinion. Linen, of course, looks much nicer but is not as easy. I can't stitch on anything smaller than 30 ct. So when I stitch on Lugana it's like a vacation.
I did notice that two strands of floss do not provide enough coverage - especially dark colors. I wonder if that is due to the "new" DMC floss. I dislike stitching with three strands and will try Anchor floss. The overdyes work well too. 28ct Lugana is also an option.
