Riolis Kits Poppies
Would like to do this one but someone just posted that the Riolis kits are hard to do. This is done on 10 count. Would it be easier to do with the wool? Love doing poppies and this one is totally different than all the ones I have done also on sale. Been looking at this one for awhile. Has anyone done this? Thanks Karen

My problem with the Riolis kits is the fact that wool takes quite a bit more patience to use than regular floss! One has to VERY tenderly separate the strands if required and use such short strand so not to end up with it splitting in half. (A single strand is EXTREMELY weak!!!!!) Others have recommended using a larger needle to make a slightly bigger hole so the fiber doesn't get rubbed as much.

On 10 count though, it may be a bit easier to do. Just go very slow! These are NOT 'weekend' kits!

And although I stated I would never do another kit from this company, danged if I didn't root about and find 3 from them I'd just love to have in my dining room! That'll teach ME to never say 'Never'! :D

I really like this picture. Several of my European friends have been stumped by our needlepoint yarn. They don't understand it. The European kits are beautiful and I have seen several finished winners! If you have the time and patience to do this project, it will be beautiful!

DancyFrog, how is your Riolis coming along? Since you've had such a struggle with the thread provided in the kit, would it be possible to switch out the thread for the other Riolis you're interested in? I realize that's rather counterproductive to the idea of a kit but was just wondering.

Sherry, I'm now working on the second part of the first half and the fox has a face now! It really does make the work go easier when you start to see the pattern come alive:) Also I'm beginning to see the point behind the wool fibers, it does seem to add a more poofy texture. Not like thick yarn but just a little bit more than the flatness of floss. The poppies pattern would really stand out in this.

I was thinking about switching the fibers out to floss but I'm just so blasted stubborn that I WILL get this kit done WITH the fiber it came with, come hell or high water!

(Or until the nice men in the clean white coats come along, whichever comes first ;) )

Thanks for the input . Will put it on my wish list for later . Just started a cat sampler and have a few mill hill kits to do. Would still like to tackle it. Karen
