Santa train stocking
I have made quite a few stockings using the kits, but I love this pattern for my newest grandson. But I am concerned that the finished size will be too different from the others. Ideally I would like to use either 16 or 18 count aida cloth, but I don't know what the size would be of the finished stocking. If I were to do it on the linen that is suggested what is the finished size on that?
Could you please give me all the dimensions in inches?
Thank you so much for your help.
Sincerely,
Becky

It says that the finished size is 10.2 x 11.1 inches if stitched on 28 ct linen over two threads. You can use any fabric you prefer. It's a very cute pattern. I stitched a birth sampler for my grandson (15 yrs ago) with a train motif and it turned really well.
I don't work with Aida but believe that 28 ct linen over 2 is equal to 14 ct Aida.

Hello,

The easiest thing to do is use our Fabric Calculator which you will see to your left under the Search box when you are on the product detail page. Just type in the stitch count for the design and then in the drop down box, select what count fabric you are wanting to use and it will give you the finished dimension sizing as well as what size of fabric you will need.

I completed this stocking last year for our youngest grandson. (The pattern has been previously published in a Stoney Creek magazine) and it was 143w x 256h stitch count. I stitched on 14 count aida and finished about 11" x 19". There might be a typo in the description. Anyway, it finished up beautifully and is a theme that will "grow" with a little guy and last a lifetime. Its an easy pattern and would adapt well to a smaller count fabric. Enjoy.

Hello marshal,

Thank you for bringing that typo to my attention. I must have typed a 1 instead of a 2 when entering the sizing dimensions onto the website :( So sorry for any confusion this has caused anyone but I have fixed it and double checked to make sure it was correct against the physical copy I have in my office :) Thank you again for letting me know!

I need to add this one to my list. It's really cute.

The only stockings I've stitched on light weight fabric like linen are the Better Homes & Gardens Heritage Stockings which are very detailed and have fractional stitches.

Although in general I'm not an Aida stitcher, I feel that my "simpler" Santa stockings look better on a sturdier fabric. Jobelan 28 over 2 used to be my favorite fabric, but I haven't had local access to it for sever years. Since my local needlework shop closed, I've been using Aida or Salem cloth 14 for my stockings.

I think the bolder fabric suits the bolder designs very well.
