Framing Baby Footprints
I just completed this stitchery and love it. I also have problems with the thin plastic frame and am going to take it to my local framer to be matted and framed. You could also use a purchased 5" x 7" frame or an 8"x10" frame with a 5"x7" mat. I do not like the charted alphabet because of the french knots (they made some of the letters illegible),so I used an alphabet from a different project. I also did the backstitch alphabet in DMC color 898, which blended with the teddy bear.

Glad you used a different alphabet...this one that the designer chose is not my cup of tea either! It is so cute and can be done in blue for a boy! I like your color choices, too. Sometimes black for letterimg is just too dark. What a sweet surprise for the parents. I amm sute that you will get good advice about a frame. I find that a great frame sets off the whole project.

I agree about changing out the designer's alphabet choice. What's nice about this pattern is that you can make the footprints blue if it's a baby boy! Or are they still doing the blue/pink thing when a baby is born?

Most do. When I crochet/knit blankets before the blessed event I play it safe and use yellow or white. After I use either pink or blue. Ultrasounds have been wrong, at least a long time ago.
I agree, it is a really cute pattern and I also like that it can be used for both sexes. I have often modified patterns, especially birth/wedding samplers. Why would they use French knots in lettering? Black is too harsh, I use 3371, I think it is, if it has to be a dark color.
