Keeping count
I am still on stitching her neck I lost count in shading and it took forever to try fixing error. She's my first large cross stitch with no print to follow I'm nervous I'll never be able to finish this great piece. Are there any way for me to better track stitch counting?

you might think about gridding the section you are working on. don't try to grid the whole thing at one time. because it is time consuming. you can grid a on-going project. you won't ever have to frog again if you pay attention to the lines. i figured out how to do it all by myself but then i googled it and there are some amazing videos on you tube. just a suggestion. p.s. she is going to be stunning.

When I work on a demanding piece I found it helps to make a copy of the pattern so I can mark it out as I go and leave the needle in the last stitch completed..does that make sense? Sure makes finding your place easier.

I make a extra copy and highlight as I go

The large charts are counted in 10 stitch squares top and side, if this makes sense to you. I'm not very good at explaining myself. I put an "X" on the number top and side where I am working. When I stop, I leave my needle in the last stitch, so I know where I am. I have never used the "grid" method, guess I'm too lazy. Everyone has their own way of doing things, this is just my way. I'm sure that you will figure it out.

Might try tempo tape. It's 3 different colors and it won't rip your paper.
