I find that organization and simplicity is the key to a successful & fun cross stitch project:
-I have arthritis & can no longer hang onto my stitching projects. I use a scroll frame on legs that sits on my craft table(even had a local carpenter shop split 2 long dowels for ease of stitching as all my projects are large)
-I wrap my threads on cardboard bobbins, labeled, and keep in a 'bead' box numerically
-I clip a magnet board to the frame next to the area I'm stitching, using magnets to hold the pattern page so I can follow hands-free
-I use colored markers to keep my place on the pattern page so I don't get 'lost'.
HAPPY STITCHING!

You need your fabric, floss, pattern, needles, threaders, scissors, last but not least, your q-snap or hoop.
Good luck !

I have never used a hoop. I hold the fabric in my hand. I feel like I have more control this way. But many people use the hoop. I also recommend a very good light above your work. Have fun!!!
