Questions on this project. Lightning
Hi. I would like to know what color DMC Floss is used for this particular project? And what is the Skill Level? And is this a kit or just a leaflet? Thank You. ~DAWN BUCHER.

This is an Artecy pattern, so chances are very good that the entire fabric is covered in stitches. The description says that 9 DMC colors are used. I would think that they range from white to various greys and probably black. Artecy designs some of the most beautiful patterns but they take a certain skill level and lots of patience to complete. I would think intermediate level.

Kristi from ECS will most likely give you an in-depth answer to your question.

This motif is well worth the effort. Good luck.

Hi Dawn,

Thanks for your message, this is our design.

There are 9 DMC colours used, a range of black, white and grays. The numbers are 310,317,318,413,414,415,762,3799 and 3865.

Kristi from ECS will see this message and will add a supply list so you will be able to purchase the floss as well as the design if you like.

It is whole cross stitches only and fully stitched. A beginner could really do it as there are not many colours and whole stitches only, but the size may be overwhelming so the skill level would be more intermediate level as Texas Stitcher said.

It is a printed black and white symbol pattern only, not a kit. It comes printed on multiple pages. There are 22 pages in total and 18 are for the pattern grid itself.

Please let me know if you have any further queries

Thanks and Best Wishes

HI DAWN.

I am a big fan of Artecy patterns. In fact, I am currently working on one and have another two more ready to get started on.

The patterns easy enough for "beginners."

However, This is a huge project.

if this will be your first cross stitch project I would suggest selecting a lot smaller -- maybe a pattern that is 80 x 80 stitches (or smaller). Maybe a house, or small dog or a bouquet of flowers. Do one or two small projects to make sure that you will enjoy cross-stitching.

Then you will be ready to start one of the larger Artecy pieces. Once you advance to larger patterns you might want to try gridding your fabric into 10 x 10 squares. Do one square at a time to make it easier to keep track of where you are.

Another important thing to remember. When you are looking at how many pages are in a particular pattern - don't get stuck looking at How many pages the pattern is. Think about the numbe of stitches and what at the finished size will be.

I'm not an employee of ECS. Just a member of the ChitChat who likes to share my ideas and helpful hints when possible.

Tereena -- I hope that you understand that I am not trying to discourage someone from stitching one of wonderful patterns.

Hi. I have been counted cross stitching for years. So it's not new to me. However I have come across a few very difficult more advanced ones. That's why I was wondering what skill level this particular one is.

GOOD -- you are not a newbie. You have enough experience to stich this wonderful pattern. The shading might be a slight challenge but you can handle it.

I totally agree with Nancye, Artecy patterns are beautiful. I bought my first one a couple of months ago and will start in the new year. I have the L&L Four Seasons to do as well. I'm getting a headache. ECS makes it so easy and pleasant for us to order and I love it when a package arrives. I look at the floss colors and the fabric and, and, and....... put it away. So little time and now that I'm old I feel like I'm on borrowed time.

Nancye, what's the name of the Artecy pattern you are stitching?

TEXAS -- you are not old. Okay, you are older than me but I am catching up. I'm 67. I'm stitching the Mini Annie. Had to take a short break from it. Too many reds and salmon; also whites, pinks and tawnys. Getting back to it this evening. I listen to talking books while I stitch. Will listen to one CD (about 75 minutes) every day until it is finished. She is darling. Wish I had a granddaughter to give it to but a sick child at a Ronald McDonald House in Florida will love it.
