I think that these cute Halloween witches, "Bewitching Trio" by Needle's Notion are designed to be stuffed figures that can stand on their own. I am sure that the instructions would include what material backs these, what to use for the hats and the hat ribbons, too. Perhaps if you contact Needle's Notion or customer service at ECS (look at the brown bar with white lettering at the top of each page here and click on it, you will find their phone and email contact info.

I don't think there is any stitching on the backs, you can use whatever fabric you like if you are doing them as stand-ups. A cute Halloween print would work well!
