floss question
Hello,
I am working on a project that asks for DMC 3371 Brown black. And when I look it up that number, it says it is black. Can I substitute 310 black? Any suggestions would be appreciated!

It is a very dark black brown, but not identical to black. Several designers choose to use it instead of black for backstitching (outlining) because it looks a bit softer than regular black.

I a not an employee of ECS,, just a stitcher on this chat that they host.

SU IS CORRECT. #3371 is a very dark brown. I would not hesitate to substitute #310 in most instances.

spencer, are you looking under DMC floss? 3371 is quite different from 310. Substituting all depends on what you are working on. I'm a little hesitant about substituting because I want my projects to turn out well and don't want to invest all the time and money to look at something that will make me regret my decision. Check the hobby stores. ECS has 3371 for sure.

I often use 3371 instead of black for backstitching.

I prefer 3371 to black for back stitching.
