This is such a cute pattern. I love snowmen, they always make me feel cool. But 32 ct? If I do a larger count the frame won't fit. Too bad.

TEX! You can use 16 count, 2 over 1 and it will fit the frame! Honest.

Su, thank you. I love your response "HONEST". That was cute. There are several people on this chat that I trust implicitly and you are one of them.

I don't have much time but did look at 16 ct linen and it looks nice. I'll stitch over one. I'll do it for my granddaughter. I stitched a Halloween pattern many years and ordered the frame. I took it to our local shop to have it stretched and framed and she was not very happy. There must be big money in framing. In any case, the frame made a huge difference and made a simple project look great.

You are so right, Texas. The frame often makes the picture! I almost gave up when our wonderful framers went out of business. They gave us such professional and artistic advice. I never had to debate about mat colors or frame designs, but just approve what they picked. I found out years later that one of the guys we so appreciated is framing for Michaels. However, an independent framer van beat the prices at Michaels, even with their alleged 60%+ 20% off coupons.

The cost of framing has driven me to frame every single cross stitch that I have done...when I feel comfortable doing it. My aunt was an art professor and taught me framing, but I dislike it as it steals stitching time! Thanks for the honesty approval...

Su, I gave up the notion of learning how to frame. I don't have the time or space to store anything else. I dread October (my birthday) because I really don't want any presents. People just won't listen. Time is all I want. Time to nap, groom, stitch, catch up on things and maybe a nice meal out.
Framing is scary business, cutting glass, mats, frames, etc.
I had a shop such as you described in Montana. He framed quite a few items for us along with cross stitch pieces. It's too bad, either we have to leave or they close shop. Our shop is having a going out of business sale starting 19 July and I plan to pick up a few small ready made frames if they are qualitative. I've seen some where the corners aren't joined properly and won't pay $20 for a 3x5 of poor quality.
Stick with stitching, maybe a brave soul with taste and talent will open a shop! In your town and mine. :)
