Several questions about this one!!
Is this one a printed cross stitch pattern or an actual COUNTED cross stitch project? I ordered one from Amazon expecting it to be a printed pattern and got a counted cross stitch project and I don't know how to do those.

Also, how many characters will fit for the names? My son and his fiancee have 9 and 7 characters in their names alone. I could abbreviate her name to Liz if I have to, but I don't know if I want to do that if it isn't necessary.

Thanks for all your help!!

Hello,

This kit made by Janlynn is for counted cross stitching. So, the fabric that is included in the kit doesn't come stamped or anything. I am not sure how much room there is for personalization inside the heart? Since this is a kit, I can't open up the package to see the actual leaflet myself :( You will probably have to do some spacing and sizing measurements for your personalization before you start stitching so you have an idea of how the names will fit on there?!

For the lettering, it depends on the names as to how much space that it will take. An 'I' is much narrower than an 'M'. In the picture it has 8 letters and then 4 letters. You might be able to eyeball it based on the names you are using. To save some space, you can use caps for just the first letter and then small case for the rest of the name. Use an '&' instead of spelling out 'and'. A different lettering style could also be used that is a little narrower. Can probably find lots of lettering styles online or usually the crafts stores carry books of lettering for cross stitch. Hope this gives you some options. It is your project, so be creative.

ALISA I am not an employee of Everything Cross Stitch. I do understand the frustration of being disappointed when ordering a product online and not receiving what you were expecting.

For future reference -- Unless a cross stitch kit description specifically says that it is STAMPED you should assume that it is a COUNTED pattern. If you are purchasing kits from places like Amazon or eBay you should contact the seller for clarification. Stamped projects used to be called embroidery. STAMPED projects might include some different stitches not usually found in COUNTED patterns.

Counted cross stitch gives you the ability to change the font of the names (and the words) so that it fits better into your project.
