No, cross stitch and sequins are not the same thing. I have never worked with sequins and cannot provide any input. You could cross stitch the design and attach beads. That is a completely different look and I don't think it would lend itself well to what you are describing.

These are not patterns for sequins...if you stitch the pattern shown above, the kid will have graduated by the time it will take to bead it and finish it. :) But I'm sure there are embroidery patterns that you fill in however you like...You could even copy coloring book patterns and use those as patterns.

Thanks, V, I needed a good laugh!

Another suggestion is that you take your son's jacket to a store that does "Machine Embroidery" and look through their pattern books to see if you can find a comparable "black panther" that can actually be machine-embroidered onto his jacket. There are such stores out there. Looking in the business section of the telephone book under Embroidery stores and give them a call.
I'm not an employee of ECS, but one of the stitchers that saw your "chat" message.

Tex, hope your GD gets better quick! Tell her she's boring when she's sickly! :) I think "boring" must be bane of modern society...at least my grandkids act like it's included as an eleventh commandment... :) I take comfort that nobody is a hero to their family. :)

As if they knew what the first ten were about... :)
