CROSS STITCH PATTERNS RESCUE MISSION
Recently there was a posting on a different site by someone who wanted to give away her huge collection of cross-stitch patterns. I responded. Last Saturday my husband and I went for a drive to see what we could see. It took about an hour to get there.

Some of the stuff was already boxed up. We had brought along empty boxes and filled them. The car was stuffed. Not sure if we could have fit one more pattern box.

It was unbelievable! I wish that some of you were there to share with me.

Not only were there patterns, there were also some kits, some beautiful books, and a lot of old cross stitch magazines.

AND THE FLOSS -- that is a different posting.

The picture shows you part of the cross stitch stuff. Not show is the four large loose leaf notebooks filled with patterns. Not show is the quilting, knitting and crochet patterns.

I have spent most of the past week sorting these wonderful patterns. I tried to start a spread sheet listing everything but that job was overwhelming. I did go back the postings for the past month or so to see if I had anything that someone was looking for but didn't come up with any matches.

The woman told me that she and her husband were moving. She was giving up stitching due to her eyesight. If I hadn't taken the stuff she was going to put it in the trash!

If you are looking for something just let me know!

Hi Nancye,
Wow! You're going to have to build an extra room for the increased stash!

If in your wanderings through the patterns you've inherited, would you please look out for a KIT, but if it was pulled apart then it would be a pattern, by Heritage Crafts in their "Silhouettes" Series for a pattern I believe is called either "Beach" or "Beaches". It would be a sepia-toned picture of a beach with possibly a seagull on the beach. These were/are KITS. I've done a number of them already. I've looked for this particular one for the last 4 years or so and can't seem to find it. Thank You!

Wow!!! A stitchers heaven there! You are the envy of all of us, me lassie! You will never need to buy another pattern again! Nor run out of things to do! I've been looking for years for a cross stitch or embroidered state flowers and/or birds quilt pattern, other than the aunt Martha iron-on patterns. Everyone does the aunt Martha ones. If there is any buried in the stash, I would be happy to pay you for it.:-) I can't believe the lady was about to throw it away! It sounds like a treasure chest!

Nancye, you are sitting on a gold mine! Just think of all the out of print and hard to find patterns you now own. You are probably the most popular person in the cross stitch world right now. Enjoy!
I might contribute to your sizable stash after sorting through my "stuff". Especially floss! :)

BERMUDA -- probably don't need an extra room yet. I could use an extra table to use for sorting. Sorry, I don't see the pattern you are looking for. If, I come across it on my third round of sorting I will let you know. Sounds like something I would have remembered if I saw it.

TEXAS -- I will accept anything you want to send me. Sorting thru this stuff is almost as much fun as stitching.

NZ -- I have something you want. Leisure Arts Leaflet #178. State Flowers charted for cross stitch and needlepoint. I had put it on the "Maybe I will, but probably won't" pile. It is really nice. If you post your contact information I will send you a private email and you can remove your address.

Wow! That must be better than Christmas! :D Does there happen to be any frog patterns?

ANY pattern is potentially a "frog" pattern! LOL. I really break myself up... :)

Okay, Okay, if this is The Stash, I need to begin getting rid of my. At 70, with my eyes getting worse, I should edit the entire mess that I own. Will I do it? Naw...want to leave something for my daughters to try to sell or give away. This is my duty as a mom!

You are 1 lucky person. I would be in heaven. I'll have to remind myself to hit you up if I need something. Happy stitching!
