To be worked over two threads
This is the first time I stitched a project to be worked over two threads. Needless to say I'm going to make this one again. On my main feather, I only went two up and one over. I did the words and small feathers correctly, but the entire picture is off. My family said it still looked nice, but I just see the mistakes. At least I learned something new.

Hi,
Don't worry, be happy. We all had our "first time" with doing something new to cross stitching.
I have a suggestion that you might want to try to help you visually see the difference between "over 1" and "over 2". It certainly helped me.
If you go to a website called, "scarletquince.com", there is an diagram showing "over 1" and over 2".

Once you get to the "scarletquince.com" website, looking at the headings
and tap on the one titled, "Solutions"then look and find the heading titled, "Tips" and tap on it with your cursor. This will take you to another screen where this is a menu on the LEFT side of the screen.
Go down this menu until you find the heading "Stitching" and scroll down until you find where it says,
"Over 1 or 2" and click on it. This will take you to the next screen and scroll down till you see the
heading that says, "Cross Stitching". If you scroll down this menu, past "preparing the fabric" and
preparing the floss", I believe it is the 4th one down you will see a heading, "over 1 or 2" and it has a PARAGRAPH describing it. Look for the RED LETTERS in the paragraph that say, "Stitching over 1 or 2, illustrated" and click on the red letters and it will have two diagrams for you to be able to see the difference between the two. I do believe that the website allows you to do a "print out" of those instructions. I hope I didn't confuse you but the "scarletquince.com" website has excellent counted cross stitching tutorials! I've used their tutorials a lot and still do. Hope this helps! :)

Oh, I'm not an employee of Everything Cross Stitch, but one of the stitchers out here that saw your "chat".
Really you didn't do badly for your first time "over 2" on this pattern. You should've seen mine the first time I tried it, it was a mess and I was "frogging" quite a bit until I had another stitcher recommend the scarlet quince tutorial. LOL!!! Have fun!

Hilljeanie, don't fret over the stitch differences...I'm pretty sure there actually is a stitch used in samplers which is exactly what you describe as an "error". Just goes to show that you can do just about anything in cross stitch and still be a genius! :)
