NOT SO GOOD NEWS
I have been diagnosed with breast cancer. It was caught very early. I was originally scheduled for a lumpectomy. However, due to genetic issues the cancer team feels that I should have a mastectomy. That way I will be able to avoid radiation therapy. It has been a rough ten days. (The Pattern Rescue mission has done a lot to keep my mind off the cancer.)

Naturally, I have been more than a little nervous. I went to the library this afternoon and requested that they allow me to take out more the normal limit of talking books. It wasn't until I got into my car that I realized that I had told them I was having a hysterectomy, not a mastectomy. Been there, done that already.

While I am not looking forward to having a breast removed it certainly is a lot better than having an arm or a leg removed. My mind is already gone! LOLOLOL

My doctor has insisted that I remain homebound for at least two weeks, except for visits to the Cancer Clinic.

That part isn't so terrible. I will be able to cross-stitch, use the computer, watch TV and rest. I won't be able to clean, cook or do laundry. Well, not really but my husband is pretty good about helping with that kind of stuff.

I will keep my pattern file nearby. Please contact me if there is something you want. Just don't worry if I don't answer right away.

Oh my goodness! Nancye, I'm so sorry to hear this! You will be in my thoughts and prayers. And, like you said at least they caught it very early, so that at least is a silver lining? (I'm trying to be positive!) Please rest and get well. Let us know how you are doing! :)

Nancye I feel for you as my husband found out he had a tumour in his chest when a horse crushed him against a wall. After treatment he is now into his eighth year clear so I wish you all the best for your treatment and hope all goes well. My husband wishes you all the best and hopes you have many more years of stitching. Regards Deirdre.

I am so sorry to hear that, Nancye! You are in my thoughts and prayers during this time. I'm relieved to hear that the doctors caught it early though. Be strong and stay joyful:-) Aren't you glad that you have such a delightful hobby to keep your mind busy? Whenever something emotionally hard hits me, I stitch and stitch and stitch. Anything to keep my mind busy on something else.:-) I know that you can fight this fight and be a true heroine!

Nancye, my thoughts are with you. Not the kind of news anyone wants to hear but the fact that it has been caught at a very early stage makes the outlook so much better. I'm sure it's scary but just remember you have so many friends here who will all be thinking of you and wishing you a speedy recovery!!
