Uh Oh.... what happened when you used the silk floss?
It is pretty expensive and I've never worked with it before.

How beautiful, I love orchids.

Why did you use silk? The listed floss is DMC cotton? I worked with silk once but did not care for it. It's also very expensive.

I have not used silk floss. My sister is doing a flower on very fine linen & it is beautiful. I want to try something using the silk floss & wondered if the orchid design would work.

I'm sure it would be lovely. I would use a soft fabric and be careful not to make mistakes. I used a variegated blue on white jobelan and had a difficult time removing either fibers or dye completely despite my best efforts. If you decide to use Aida then it would be a good idea to wash it first to soften the fabric. I was told that silk floss cannot be washed. I did this about seven years ago, there could be less fragile fibers on the market now.
Good luck.

I agree that this orchid picture would be beautiful with silk floss. Cost of the silk floss and any difficulty as mentioned by the other stitcher are two of the reasons I will pass on trying it myself.
Heck, I have enough trouble with having to "frog" the DMC floss I use.....

Oh that would be beautiful in silk! I myself haven't tried silk yet but I know its a difficult thread to work with. I have an old quilt of my grandmother's made out of silk fabrics and thankfully only one patch needs to be replaced.

Interesting you would mention Silk floss.....we have a college professor in our family who has taught in Massachusetts during her work life. I "fellow" professor's mother passed away. This person was from Sophia, Bulgaria. She went with him to settle things away over there. His mother had a large bag of yarn and "thread". She gave me this bag. There are very large skeins of thread which I am sure are silk. (There are labels which I have not researched yet...they are NOT in English.) There are three shades of light aqua to dark teal. There is also a skein of an off white. At some point, I am going to try working this thread on a fine linen to see what it looks like. The feel and colors are outstanding....
