ornaments
Didn't realize that you needed to purchase buttons to complete these ornaments; disappointed that this wasn't clearly stated

A pattern is just that. A kit generally supplies everything you need. You don't necessarily have to purchase the buttons from the listed manufacturers. Hobby Lobby etc probably sell cute little embellishments as well. Personally, I like to finish my projects as authentically as possible. No point in putting in all the work just to skimp on a little button. Despite the fact that this is a hobby it still is a lot of work. :)

Hello,

The written Description that is located underneath the product lists what all is used to complete these designs and Stoney Creek buttons is listed there as an item needed. Unfortunately, we do not sell Stoney Creek buttons so those have to come directly from Stoney Creek. But you can always choose whatever buttons you like for your completed piece. Like Texas Stitcher said in her post above, you could use any embellishment that you like.

Since the button needed is the head of the snowman it would be more difficult to find an alternative that would fit size wise; my mistake in not reading the information more closely

Your "alternative" could be as simple as a small hoop--plastic, wood. :) They are still a cute idea, even with the extra trip or order on line... :)

I didn't see a snowman with a button for a head. Odd. Yeah, well, ordering is like that sometimes. Have you spoken to customer service?
