The "Divorce Stitching" is done.
Remember a few weeks ago I said my daughter asked me to make a stitching with: "Whatever. I'm still Fabulous". Well, here it is. I hope it shows up because it is stitched on black Aida with purple, gold, red, and silver. It is small 6.5 x 6.5 inches. I don't think I'll use black Aida again...too hard to see. I used Pinoy Stitch pattern called "Witchy Woman" but, of course, changed the words.
A few of you shared good opinions on whether this was a good idea for my daughter; whether it would help with her healing. I went with mcleodjt's message, " maybe she'll look at it every day and smile." If it turns out to be a sad reminder, I hope she puts it away.
As usual, you all gave good advice: xstitcher and Texas Stitcher told me about Thread Heaven, maubennett told me about the alphabet books. I also learned s-floss is silk, not satin!
This Chat Room is a great resource, also a place to share our good times and not-so-good times, our accomplishments and goofs!
You gals (guys) are a stitch...pun intended. I laughed at the responses to the advice using vodka & water to get out creases in the stitching.
Many thanks to all of you...happy stitching!

It turned out beautifully! Whether or not it ever becomes a sad reminder of a tough time is a question answered by time, but she will definitely always be reminded what a great Mom she has! :)

What a beautiful piece of work. I've never stitched on black but wish that I could. I hope that you kept the pattern you charted. Love the shoe! Have you given it to your daughter? If so, what was her reaction?

Since you mentioned Thread Heaven, you have to give Tacky Bob a try when using beads. :)

I think it is just super. In time your daughter will put it away because she will have moved on but it will always remind her of her mum who supported her when she needed it.

AND WOW....stitching on black...how cool, how difficult, how in tune with the message! Well done you!
