small stork scissors...
I have two small scissors that I use to snip my floss. They both have gotten dull, especially the very points.
Can anyone recommend scissor sharpeners that can sharpen the small blades? Thanks!

Bermuda....I have a very strange suggestion for you!! We have a local Barber who has a little sign outside of his shop "scissors sharpened here". So...I took mine in, scissors I cut fabrics with and small ones like yours, and he sharpened them for a couple of bucks. It didn't dawn on me right away...but when a Barber uses scissors, they must be sharp to the very tip! You might have someone close by there that could do it for you. Good luck!

Yes I can but will find the name when I get back home from the doctor. DH and I are off to get our flu jabs.

Hi , I'm back again and feeling very indignant! They don't seem to make the one I have any more BUT there are two other possibilities. I found one small one that seems to be the same system as my old Fiskars one. It is on ebay.com I searched for embroidery scissors sharpener and it was near the top .....a little red one costing 22.63. It had SS/1 beside the picture and was coming from the United Kingdom. I've had mine for years and swear by it.
I also found a Fiskars table top model. That brand is quality. I hope you find a solution.

Thank you both for your suggestions. DH is going to be going in to see his barber soon and I'll give him the two embroidery scissors I have and see if they can sharpen them. I did the "home-made" remedy I found on the internet and tried it but it didn't work!!! It involved taking an 8" x 10" piece of aluminum foil and folding it until you have a 3-5 layer strip wide enough to use the scissors to cut the foil from the "base" (closest to your fingers) to the very tip of the scissors. You keep cutting the aluminum foil into strips and by the time you get done, your scissors will be sharper. It didn't work for me but if someone tries it and it's successful let me know!!! :)

I've tried that with no success. I've also tried "cutting" the neck of a bottle with no success. A good scissor sharpener is a good investment if you sew a lot

YIPEE I found one for you at the right price.

Go to www.ebay.co.uk and search for scissor sharpeners. It's the third one down and then send to the USA. It costs £3.48 and the postage to Denmark is very cheap so probably not expensive for you either.

I have seen a scissors sharpening sign in at a barber shop. As someone said, barbers need sharp scissors in order to cut people's hair. Someone come's in, picks them up, and returns them within a certain time.

Also I have seen signs in Joann'a, Hancock Fabrics, other fabric stores by the cash register offering scissor sharping. Again, someone comes in, picks them up, and returns them within a certain time.

If you have a store selling knives (kitchen accessories or pocket knives) they probably have a sharpener included in the set.

I hope these suggestions help!

I just ordered a Fiskars Desktop Scissors Sharpener from Amazon. I just searched for "scissors sharpener" and several came up.

Aunt Connie, I have also ordered both an extra sharpener for my embroidery scissors and the desk top model.

We shall have the sharpest scissors in town!!!!!

xstitcher, which sharpener did you get for your embroidery scissors? I put one in my wish list, but I'm not sure if I'll get it. I'm waiting to see if the desktop one will work.
