Embroidery/cross stitch
I am questioning why I see "cross stitch" patterns when I just want to see crewel or emboidery kits. I have too much trouble doing cross stitch but I enjoy doing the crewel and embroidery. Is there some reason why when I put crewel or embroidery kits that I get cross stitch instead?

Everything Cross Stitch seems to specialize in that particular hobby, as the name implies. If you Google crewel, etc you will find sites that sell your hobby items.

Cross stitch is generally considered a subset of embroidery, so searching for embroidery might bring up results not just for cross stitch, but also crewel, machine embroidery, cutwork, blackwork/redwork, Jacobean Embroidery, etc. As mentioned above, this particular site focuses on cross stitch.

If you want to search on google and want to NOT receive any results including cross stitch, do a search for "embroidery -cross stitch" adding a - before a search term in google means the search engine will not show you any results including that term.

Good luck!

If you are looking for crewel, needlepainting, or other kits that don't use cross stitch or other counted techniques - try looking for articles posted by Mary Corbet at needlenthread.com. There are also some links to companies that advertise on her site that provide quality designs and kits. Note you might find her recommendations and advertisers are a bit pricey, but everything will be of high quality. She also has some great videos, so it's worth a look if you aren't familiar with the site.
