The description says that filament is used. To me that is a warning. Working with filament can be tricky. Cannot give at advice about other parts of the pattern such is fractional stitching, French knots, etc.

I am not an employee. I am a stitcher. If I had my heart set on stitching this particular kit I would definitely substitute regular floss for the filament.

When you say filament I take that as being what I call metallic thread. I have 3 tricks. Use a shorter length than usual. Use Thread Heaven. Thread your needle by looping it through the eye and threading the tails through the loop. This way keeps the threads taunt.

I hope this helps.

Here's the best trick of all for filaments and metallics: paint the ends with a small amount of clear nail polish.

Of course, that means you need set the coated thread aside for a few hours so the polish can completely dry. But once it's dry...it's positively civilized and a sheer pleasure to work with. Try it and see if it works for you.

Also, if you are striving for a neat back, and want to be absolutely sure all of the metallic threads are securely anchored, use the same trick. That is, after the stitching is done, apply a very small dab of the polish to any loose threads sticking up and threatening to unanchor themselves. This creates an anchor as strong as a tank!!
