Hi, I'm wondering if my 89 yr old mom would be able to learn cross stitch with this bookmark pattern/kit? I thought a stamped pattern would be the way for her to learn, but maybe a smaller counted pattern would work. Any thoughts on my thoughts?

Thanks!

This pattern would not be a good place for your mom to learn to do cross stitching. If you click on the link on the left for cross stitch kits you will find a category for small beginner kits. This is where I would get a project to learn to do cross stitching for your 89 year old mother. I would not want her to get frustrated if she had any problems and give up. Cross stitching is a great hobby. Feel free to come here and ask any questions that you or your mom might have about a project or just to chat. We are all friends here and willing to help anyone.

I agree an excellent idea to check out a simpler pattern.

Remember there is no age limit on who can learn how to cross stitch. Or maybe just our babies as their eye hand coordination as all of us know is not the best (LOL). Just make sure you mom has plenty of light and she'll get on just fine.

My mom just turned 90 last Friday and is still knitting away everyday. She has been knitting for 80 odd years and she knits with her eyes closed. Not something I would recommend while stitching (LOL). It is lovely that you mom wants to learn something new.

Good Luck and let us know how she gets along.

Regards, CC
