It's Been To Long
Can someone refreshen my memory and tell me what the over 2 and 28 cnt stand for? (I think this means the size of square on the fabric)

Also, patterns Calls for Fabric: 28 count angel blush lugana, but I don't see that as one of my choices on this website. Am I missing it?

Thank you in advance!

Indeed, it has to do with the squares - or more clearly the threads - per inch. 28 count means it has 28 threads per inch (or spaces to make stitches). Stitching over two means going up diagonally two spaces - so you are essentially covering four squares with your stitch instead of one (two horizontally, two vertically). It means stitching over two on 28 count will turn out the same finished size as over one on fourteen count.

The fabric doesn't appear to be available on this site, but you can click on Cross Stitch Fabric in the left menu and look at other options in 28 count. I believe there's some pretty options that would look nice with this piece in the Jobelan category.

Could I just add to that excellent answer that 28 count on evenweave is the same as 14 count Aida and the I think the most used for stitching.

Thank you all so much for the replies! I don't remember ever doing a piece that went over 2! That's interesting and I wasn't aware of this technique!!

Whoa.....it's 2 up and 2 over just as you've always done.

jboren, crafty gave an excellent explanation. I would try other sites to find the recommended fabric. You will love stitching on 28 ct Lugana. It is one of my favorite fabrics, although Jobelin is very nice too. Soft and easy on the hands. I really like the pattern and am contemplating if I should order it. It looks like a fun project. Good luck.

Oh, I also wanted to add that stitching over two on Lugana and Jobelan is super easy. It gets a little trickier on some of the linens where the individual threads are of differing thickness. But once you "have" it, it's a piece of cake.

Everyone is so helpful with their comments and I greatly appreciate it!
Since I can't find the lugana in 28 count pink should I order it Aida 14 count?
I don't see the correct lugana fabric on any other websites.

No, do no use Aida. Lugana or Jobelin are so much more attractive. Look on other sites. 1-2-3stitch.com and if they don't have it google it. I have sites written down but no time to look for it will do it on the weekend.
I ordered your pattern this morning. It will make a nice gift to friends, if I can get it finished. I cannot believe that I keep ordering.
I know that some people love Aida but it's too stiff for my taste.
