Classic Colorworks

Hi,

Just finished sititching my pattern. I used a dark brown floss( Classic Colorworks, caterpillar.) I had A bit of dirt on my White Aida, so I wash it off, now the floss color spread to my white Aida. Should I wash the whole project in cold water.

Thank you, MAry

Hi Mary,
I had a "bleed" from a specialty thread onto my white evenweave fabric, but that was because I was stupid to have used the "steam" portion of my iron when ironing the finished project. What I did ( after I screamed), was get a large plastic clean bowl with cold water and soak the whole project. I did not add any soap or additives to the water because I had other Floss colors in the pattern. I soaked the project for 3 whole days in cold water, changing the water often and hand-squeezing, ( do NOT wring the fabric) and swishing the fabric in the cold water about 5 times per day, paying particular attention to squeezing the water through the problem area. I took my thumb and forefinger and GENTLY and Lightly rubbed that area of the material while it was in the water between my thumb and forefinger a few times during the 3-day process. do NOT be tempted to rub the the material against each other as if you are trying to "scrub" it out; you could damage the area from too much rubbing. I then examined the area while it was wet, then gently squeezed the additional water out and let it air dry flat on a clean WHITE towel (my "bleed" was about a 1-inch by 1/2-inch area)and re-examined the area when it was dry; and it appeared to have removed the area that had been bleeding. If you notice any remnant of the bleed, either on the project material or on the white towel, , I would do another 24-hour soak following above procedures.
Hope this helps! That is the problem with many of the Colorworks floss, the bleeding, so I suggest you soak the floss to remove extra dye and air dry BEFORE you use it on a project and NEVER use the "Steam" on your iron.
