Color Coded Grifts
i'm currently working on a large pattern and the graft is 'color coded'. - Its so frustrating and very difficult to follow. Curious to know if other stitcher's also find it horrible to follow a color coded graft on patterns. I would love to post a photo but I'm not sure how that's done with my message.

I also dislike color coded patterns. I find I end up using the wrong color that is similar to the color code vs the color the color code represents. I always thought it was a personal brain disconnect! K

If it's a brain disconnect Karen, then we must be related because that has happened to me too.

Glad to know I'm not the only one. The last one I did had a dark tan code color yellow and a light tan code color orange - I think I ripped out more stitches that I put in. I kept wondering what their thought process was in picking the color codes - duh!

Glad to know others also dislike working with the 'color coded grafts. The pattern I'm working on is a 'Riolis "Breeze Through Mane done on Black 14ct. Aida fabric. I purchase the kit from Herrschner's. I love horses and I'm making it for my son who lives in Texas.

Does the chart also have symbols in addition to the color Code? If so, maybe you could copy it in black and white on your own printer or at a copy shop.

Great idea, marshal, I also dislike working with color coded charts. You hardly see them these days but the older patterns ..........
Like some of you, I made mistakes based on the symbol's color.

WOW! Your design is beautiful and far more complicated than what I was working on. Copying didn't help me because the darker color codes wouldn't show the symbols on the copy. Maybe Riolis would provide a black and while chart for you.

KarenTx, I ran into the same problem...the darker color codes didn't show the symbols. I even tried enlarging the photo print. I like what you suggested, I'll give a try and contact Riolis for a black and white chart. Thanks for that tip.

Stitch102, I am also working on Breeze Through Mane and the chart is difficult to read. I will take a black and white chart any day. I can only work on it a day or 2 at a time then have to look at something else for a couple of days. This one is going to take me awhile to complete.

If you all mail the manufacturer you'll have a better chance of getting the black and white chart.
