Really neat chart!
I ordered this chart to stitch for my daughter-in-law's birthday. Since she prefers deer over moose, after I received the chart, I replaced the moose with a deer. I haven't quite finished stitching it, yet, but when I do I will return here and post a photo of it.

Hi Bob, that sounds great. Yes, send us a picture of the pattern when you have completed it! Obviously you will need to lose the moose antlers and the "crop?" (Is that what they call that tuft of hair under the throat???)...

I am always amazed and awed at the way the seasoned cross stitchers on this site can adapt a pattern. I don't have that kind of talent and would surely mess it up! I am inspired by their ability to do this and may have to or need to try it some day.
Happy Stitching!

O.K. So, I finally finished stitching the project. Here is a photo of the finished product. As stated in my original post, I substituted the deer for the moose. Also, I omitted the acorn and oak leaf cluster in the upper left-I didn't want to distract from the symmetry of the simple, but elegant "log" frame.

Very Nice. Your alterations have worked in very well.

Good job, Bob! Sorry, couldn't resist... :) Love the freedom of changing designs to make them personal! :) So much fun to "create"! :)

Wow! How did you do that? Did you find a pattern of a deer that would fit in there and just stitch or did you do it free hand either way great job!

First of all, thank you all for your kind remarks!

Jacquie, I actually created a chart for the deer, making sure it would fit in the required space. It isn't very hard to do-all it takes is some graph paper and a pencil and a moderate amount of patience to get it to the proper dimensions. I don't alter charts that much, mostly the lettering on wedding samplers and baby birth announcements. Alphabets are much easier than changing picture elements in a chart. Please don't underestimate your abilities, you can always experiment with a handmade chart on a piece of scrap material and some floss from your stash, as long as the chart you create is not too large! Don't get discouraged and just keep tweaking it until you have what you want. Remember, this is all supposed to be fun and relaxing. If you find it becoming stressful, walk away from it and return at a later time when you are more calm . At any rate, thanks for your comments.

Great job, Bob! It actually looks much better with a deer instead of the moose.

ladyj, if you don't possess mad skills like Bob and do your own designs then you could look for a pattern that has a deer for example and substitute. The possibilities are endless! :)

Great work! I am an independent cuss, so I admire anyone who can successfully alter a pattern! I do it often and will often struggle with some patterns. But, I like symmetry with geometric designs, but they seem to be more difficult to alter to a different font. I really like what you have accomplished, Bob. I really enjoyed your advice to set it aside if frustrated and go to it later...which is where most of my UFOs arise...my frustration. When I was quite a bit younger, I never have a single project that would be in a UFO designation. Now, I don't get angry or frustrated, I just set it aside until I feel like finishing it.
