How many...
What's the highest number of projects you guys have worked on at one time? Currently, I'm working on three, one is in backstitch stage, one is small, and one is large.

Update 5/28/17: The backstitch one is now a UFO because I want to save the floss for a project that I actually like. The backstitch one was a gift, and it's cute but not something I am totally in love with.

Four and NEVER AGAIN!.

I usually have two large projects and three or four small or very small projects on the go at any one time. Then if I start making mistakes in one of the large ones I put it aside and pick up the other one as I hate unpicking!!. I do the smaller ones between sessions of the larger ones or when I become bored with the large ones (which is when I start making mistakes).

Do we count the ones started and "stored" for several years? LOL

More than I care to admit. I need total peace and quiet to work on anything too complicated. (husband has to be at work, dog sleeping) so I limit myself to one of those. But I have a few small easy pieces I can just pick up and put down as the spirit moves me. I'm sure our neighbors think I'm crazy, when they see me outside with the dog...throw the ball, do two stitches, throw the ball, do two stitches....

I have six going now. I get bored or distracted easily so I'm always switching projects to keep myself interested. I'm really close to finishing two of them, Split Rock Lighthouse and Point Loma Lighthouse, and I'm anxious to start something new. lol

@Marydenmark: LOL. It's good you know your limits.

@deirdre: That's a good idea, having some smaller ones so that a project doesn't frustrate you so much that you don't even want to stitch anymore, at least for a while. (Is that even possible? LOL). I know I make a lot of mistakes on bigger projects cause the pattern pages can get pretty ridiculous looking. All those symbols. *goes cross-eyed temporarily*

@VCESS: Sure, if you want to! LOL. If that's too high of a number though, just the active ones you have at the moment are good too. Technically my one in backstitch stage is in the "stored" pile, haha I think I've been working on that one for like three years >_< but it was a kit my mom got for me, and it's cute, but it's not like, my most favorite pattern in the whole world, so when I got done stitching it, I was like... *moves on to stitching patterns I'm more fond of* LOL.

@Jaj: Haha, nice, I sort of stitch in that stop and go mode too, I mark my patterns with different colored pencils after I stitch something. I'm notorious for screwing up if I don't pay enough attention to what I'm stitching, so I have to go and mark on the pattern after each stitch I do. I'm sure your dog appreciates you playing with him/her in between stitches though. :D

@unknown (Sorry it didn't print a username next to your reply)
Wow six! That's impressive. Are you looking for another lighthouse pattern, or going for something completely different?

I'm Dawn. Idk why it's not putting my name there.
I love lighthouses, but I think my next project, if I have/can afford the supplies, will be a Blue Heron I found in an old book I've had. Of course, I have a ton already kitted up too. lol

I have one big one - "In their own world" by Mystic Stitch going as well as a medium project "Home Sweet Home" which is in the current issue of Stoney Creek magazine. I just finished a towel pattern "Welcome to my garden" from the same issue. Before I started making the cover all projects I never had more than one project going at a time but when working on the coverall ones I would slowly lose my mind if I didn't have a diversion. I do limit myself to only 3 as I don't want to get my threads mixed and I only have so much room to work in. Since I don't have a cat or dog and my kids are grown I can leave everything out and just work on it as the mood strikes - which is quite often during the day and always in the evenings. Have a great week fellow stitchers.

veronichrome,
I too like to work on several projects at a time and switch back and forth when I get tired or frustrated with one pattern. I have many projects started and aspire to finish each one some day. I figure if I work on each one a little at a time each will get done....eventually! Happy Stitching!

@Dawn: Hi. Ooh, herons are pretty. Happy stitching with whatever project you decide on. :)

@cheryl: That's awesome that you have very little distractions from stitching. Yeah, it would be a bad thing if threads got mixed. O_O I have separate project boxes for that reason. Although, before I got this new larger pattern, I barely had any threads. I just had some extra from a project that I misplaced a long time ago, some beads, and also some from a kit my mom gave me that I have no idea what brand the thread is. I had to buy about 92 skeins of different DMC threads for the larger pattern, so that was fun. Now I have a lot of thread, and for that mystery thread, I've just been trying to color match it to the DMC as best I can. LOL.

@Jacquie: Are you a serial starter like me? LOL. I have issues finishing things for some reason. I'm trying to make myself get better at it, and slowly but surely it is working, but still... that one project where I only have to do the backstitching, sits neglected. I am glad I really like my two newer patterns as I haven't been able to put either of those down for very long, so that's progress I suppose. Some day... both of of us can do it! Haha.
