Mary Lee is headed back to South Jersey for Memorial Day Weekend!
Hello stitchers! As you know, I have been following Merry Lee the Great White Shark who makes her way from Nantucket to Florida. The Atlantic City Press just printed an article saying she is on course to head back to South Jersey for the Holiday weekend. She usually does this every year. She is quite a special shark. The director of Ocearch.org tagged her in September of 2012 off the Massachusetts coast. Chris Fisher is the founder of OCEARCH and the person who tagged her. He named her in honor of his mother because she was so special. I have had great fun following her antics.
Bermuda.....are you out there??? You have asked me if I thought she was going up and down the coast in the spring with hopes of mating. That is exactly what Chris Fisher thinks this is about! Her estimated weight is now 3,500 pounds. My husband and I will make out way down to Cape May this weekend. I would just LOVE to hear that she was spotted in the waters nearby. She has come as close as 1 1/2 miles off the tip of Cape May. Have a wonderful holiday weekend everyone!

Jersey - where have you been?? I have put a couple messages up for you and didn't get an answer. I hope everything is well with you and your family. I was just thinking the other day that Merry Lee should be making her way to you. Keep us posted and let us know what you have been up to. Love to have you back.

Hi Cheryl, Yes...I have been "missing in action"! If you go to page two of the chat board...at the bottom where Texas Stitcher posted her picture of Celtic Christmas, I give an explanation of what has been going on. My husband had a sudden heart attack in February....he is stabilized now and we are much better. The details are in that posting. Good to hear from you and it is good to be back in the chat room!! Have a great holiday weekend!! Carol

Carol - I feel your pain - I have been there for over 5 years. In 2012 my husband, Pat, broke his left leg very badly. To make a long story short he had a very bad doctor who ignored a MRSSA infection. After many surgeries and hospital stays he ended up losing his lower left leg. He wears a prosthetic leg and doesn't let anything get him down so this is good. Last October he got bronchitis and between then and the end of April he had it 3 times - each one worse than before. He coughed constantly for months (24/7) and it didn't make any difference where he tried to sleep it didn't work. He was totally exhausted - many primary care visits and FINALLY a trip to the ER where the doctor prescribed robitussin cough syrup with codeine and in 24 hours the cough was cut in half and gone in 48 hours. But between October and this ER visit our primary tried different meds to counter affect it but all the meds just made it worse. He has a leaky heart valve which was quite a concern but the cardiologist said nothing to worry about at this time. He is doing much better (the only good thing that came out of the bronchitis is he lost 45 pounds). Was it TexasStitcher who said she was tired of cooking for her husband because he said nothing tastes good - been there. I finally just quit cooking bigger meals and make smaller more nutritionist meals. It is hard to work with guys when they are sick. When I am sick I just want to be left alone till I either die or get better. I have you both in my prayers and always know we are just a chat away. Take care.

Thought of you today, jersey. Coming home from work today listening to KMOX radio news (CBS) and they were talking about Mary Lee and how she has been spotted with a male. I can't remember all the details. But after a long day (but short shift) of retail, it was a story I could smile about.

Cheryl, I will keep you and your husband in my prayers as well. He has certainly had "a go of it" over these last few years.
I am just amazed at the fact that they didn't really know what was wrong with his leg. Doctors are like car mechanics...you'd better hope that you have a good one. Best of luck to both of you. Stay strong.

About Merry Lee -- I got my wish. They spotted her off the coast of Wildwood Saturday afternoon. So....that is a good sign. They are now reporting about her on the Philadelphia new stations. She has her own Twitter account and several thousand followers! Can you believe it? Our grand daughter's birthday party is this afternoon...it is rainy here, so we will go down to the Cape tomorrow. Be well all of you.

Hi Jersey,
So Mary Lee finally came to Jersey and found herself a boyfriend. Hope they had a beautiful "night at sea" together and he escaped before Mary Lee started looking at him like a tuna sandwich for lunch.... should we expect little Mary Lee's in the future?
Hope your husband is feeling better and doing better. It is good for the both of you to take a trip to the Cape; a chance to see the beauty of the landscape and the sea....

Cheryl- your hubby has been through a lot!!
What a wonderful fighting spirit!!
It is amazing what a GOOD doctor can do but I agree that it is like trying to find a good mechanic; you have to go to different ones until you can find a " good fit".
My "Northern" primary is a good doctor; he listens and covers all the bases. But it took going through at least 3 other doctors before I found him as the correct fit. I have two primary doctors- one in the South and one in the North since DH and I "migrate" during the year. My "Southern" doctor ( who is newer), is good, but it took me longer
To establish trust with him until I had a couple situations that he picked up on and we were able to resolve together.
Not been on the chat much. We "migrated" North a couple of weeks ago and the yard work has been like being a contestant on "Survivor".
Hoping everyone had a wonderful Memorial weekend.

Don't have much time but want to say how good it is to hear from all of you. Best wishes and kind thoughts to all who have/had health issues. It's part of our lives now that we are aging, I suppose.
Wouldn't that photo make a great pattern? LOLOLOL
More later.
GD successfully completed first grade and her award ceremony is today.

Su Pitt, where are you?

Today in the Columbus Ohio newspaper there was an article about Merry Lee. I never would have read it, but remember you talking about it.
