What size frame should I use?
I'm starting a new cross stitch project and wan to know what size frame I would use? The finished size is 11.21 wide by 14.00 high. It's stitched on 14 ct. Aida cloth. It may or may not have a mat board on it. I know that you leave at least 3 inches on top and bottom for framing. If there is a mat board, what size? If no mat board, what size.

Do you intend to buy a ready-made frame or take your picture to a framer? I always take mine to a framer and she helps me pick out the matting color and the frame and does all the work. So helpful to be able to try several different colors of each before ordering. I wouldn't know where to begin with a ready-made frame so I can't help you there.

The hobby stores carry ready made frames and mats. Maybe you can take your finished project there and someone will assist you. They also frame but I had a really bad experience.
I totally agree with Senior Stitcher to have projects framed professionally, that is if you know of a good shop. I've had the good luck to find great shops and then again there are those lemons. If you are unsure about the quality of work a framer does, then I would take a small piece and see.
Good luck!
PS The size frame depends on how much fabric you want showing. The 3 inches on each side are mostly used for securing the fabric to the board with pins (stretching). The person doing the stretching will leave as much or as little as you like. I hope that you can understand what I'm trying to say. It's so much easier to show than to explain.
