Fabric size and count
The fabric you recommend is 14 count aida. How do I know what size fabri to order if I would prefer to stitch on 16 or 18 count.

Go to the "fabric" heading on the home page and click on it. There is a fabric calculator there where you can plug in the pattern stitch count, the fabric size i.e. 16, 18 etc. and it will give you the amount of fabric you should order. See if the suggestion of fabric size gives you enough extra fabric on each side for mounting and framing. Some stitchers like to add 2-inches extra on EACH side of fabric; some like to add 3-inches each side

Bea --you posted the statement: "The fabric you recommend is 14 count aida."

Just want to let you know that "recommendation" came from the designer of the pattern, not Everything Cross Stitch.

Follow the previous poster's instructions, if you want to change the fabric. Divide the number of stitches by the count of the fabric. e.g. The pattern is 100 stitches.

100 divided by 14 is 7.14 and 100 divided by 16 is 6.25 I ALWAYS round up. Then add six inches to allow enough room for finishing. Rounded up the across length would be eight or seven inches across; then add the extra six inches and you would need a piece of fabric that is 14 or thirteen across depending on the count.

Follow the same procedure for the height.

Welcome to ChitChat. Everything Cross Stitch provides this service for stitchers to exchange hints, ideas and other misc. information. It is friendly group and always someone will jump in and give advice.

I have just given you the same advice as previously posted but in a different format.
