Questions? Questions? Questions?
Ok. First please be patient with me! This project (Little Dragon) is SO big, I'm having trouble wrapping my brain around it.

VCESS: I think I remember for gridding, that I measure from the edge of the fabric to the end of the excess for framing, then start the gridding. Is this correct? If so, then I have a couple more questions but I'll wait for your answer. Please don't get ahead of me, as I am getting thoroughly confused! I have to go one step at a time, ok?

TEREENA: I will be stitching it sideways. By turning it sideways, that puts me starting at the lower left corner, but help me figure out the order of pages from there, please?

Thank you! - Marlene

One step is good!
I only grid the stitching area...not the extra, for framing. I can't tell you about "measuring in". I start in the middle...that way I don't have to mess with measuring in.

1) I find my center of the fabric, do a cross stitch to mark it. Then 2) I do my vertical axis by coming up with the needle 3 stitches below the center, down with the needle 3 stitches above the center 3)count up 4 stitches, bring needle up in the 4th stitch. Then 4)count upward 6 stitches, in the 6th stitch down with needle 5) upward 4 stitches, up in 4th stitch 6) Continue, you are gridding

On the pattern, i count the number of squares from the center to the top of the pattern. That is the number of red spaces that I will do upward. When I come back to the center to do the bottom half, I do the corresponding number of red squares downward.

Is that clear? You don't have to measure anything. Just fold your fabric into quarters, pinch the corner.

You do need to know if you are stitching this sideways...orient yourself now. I would probably get lost after going to get a drink of water. Think top, bottom, left, right...with pattern and fabric being twins to each other. Just use caution now...

Let me know when you're ready for the horizontal bit. 😉

Hi Marlene,

Ok on page 62 of the pattern at the bottom of that page you will see the pattern layout which shows you where each page number goes.

If you turn this page to the right so it is horizontal this is how your page order will go and turn each pattern page you stitch and the symbol list in the same direction to make sure there are no mistakes and to make the symbols easier to read with the list. You must turn all the pages in the same direction or it will be a big mess :)

So the bottom row of pages you will stitch if you start from the lower left corner will be starting at page 60, then 50, then 40 , then 30, then 20, then 10.

In regards to your fabric I am not sure if you decided to go with 18ct and how much extra you are leaving for framing, normally we recommend at least 3 extra inches all around. so if you are on 18ct and want 3 extra inches all around your fabric when turned on the side will need to be measured at 28inches wide by 36.5inches high. From your starting point at the bottom left corner you will then measure across 3 inches and up 3 inches and this will be your starting point and where you start gridding from.

Hope this all makes sense, if you have any further queries please let me know here or at artecy@artecy.com

Hope you enjoy stitching it and all the Best
