I am now 1 month since knee replacement surgery. I am moving in the right direction but as all recovery tends to be, its been 2 steps forward, 1 step back, 1 step sideways, repeat. I find that my operative leg tends to ache. The physiotherapist said this is the muscles, tendons and ligaments being realigned after surgery. I'm measuring progress by looking at what I can do today that I couldn't do last week. Besides there is no medal awarded to those that get through this with flying colors. I still find it exhausting to have a shower or do too much around the house. I am thankful hubby does what I cannot when he gets home I have put floss to fabric. I am working on some small Christmas projects and on a birth announcement for our anticipated 6th grandchild. Putting the days in. NOT missing work at all. Happy stitching! Mary

Glad you are doing g well. It takes a while to get you strength back. When my sister had it done, she took 2 months off. She is a dog groomer. When she went back to work 3 days a week for the first couple of weeks. So don't over do, just keep Stitching.

My surgeon says I will be off work 3-4 months. At first I thought "really??" Now I think "really!" I have had 2 back surgeries. ..they were nothing lIke this. Whenever I gripe, hubby reminds me that I am almost a decade older now! Imagine that! Mary

Glad to hear of your good-sense recovery! Not pushing, having patience and understanding of yourself....and blessed are the caretakers! :) Aching wears you out, steals your resolve...take a pill if it gets too bad! Nobody will give you a gold star for a full bottle of mild pain relievers when you're all better. But they will want to boot you in the uh-huh for being a cranky pants! :) Well-wishes from this part of the world! :)

MaryM, Just take your time with things. Your days will get better --housework can wait. Getting healthy after surgery takes months to feel better...wishing you good thoughts....

Like the others said, you will get further by recovering in 'baby steps'. When I started to really start feeling.better about 3 weeks after surgery, I ended up trying to do too much and ended up back at 'square one' PLUS an extra visit to the doctor.

I been there, done that when I broke my knee cap last September. I returned to work almost six months later. It takes time to heal. Luckily, DH was retired and became my caretaker for the most part. One of my sisters became my bather, and Mom was my driver. I spent six weeks sitting in bed, working on cross stitch projects while healing. Then came physical therapy. I'm doing well people say when I tell them my story. djrb7213

Good luck with your continued recovery, and enjoy your "vacation".

Mary, isn't it great that you don't need knees to cross stitch! Thank heavens for small favors.
