I GIVE UP!!!
HAED's wins!! I have a Santa Claus that I started a few years ago & every so often I haul it out & work on it for a short time then put it away again. This last time was the last time. I would rather do back stitching than all the "confetti". It has finally defeated me!. I did a small one (Christmas stocking) many years ago that took me 9 months to do but now am giving up on HAED. I don't have enough years left to finish one plus all the other projects in my stash & found I am now enjoying smaller simpler projects. So...... I've packed it away probably never to be seen again. Anybody interested in HAED can have mine as I foolishly have several others in my stash & will gladly send them to you. (I also have the pre cut & serged edge material for each one.

I have seen many references to HAED's on this chat and have no idea what they are!
Would someone enlighten me please??

TERRIFIC TERRY, I admire your common sense and self-knowledge! I doubt I would ever throw away YEARS of effort, even though I might want to! I would cheat and skip a bunch of the confetti, finish that ONE, give away the patterns I changed my mind about, and do something to celebrate myself! But NOBODY is getting my fabric. :)

WOW, what a meltdown! :) Beautiful!!!! :)

Terryd, I understand your aggravation, they are very tedious. It will probably take several years to finish mine. This will be last one I do on 32 count also. My eyes can't take anymore, so I can only work on it 1 day then take a day off.

Marym, HAED refers to Heaven and Earth Designs. They are gorgeous patterns, but the down fall to gorgeous is the requirement of patience of a saint.

MaryM, Heaven and Earth Designs...LARGE, intense, dense detail...gorgeous... Some of them are for only the truly insane. I must point out that I am a minority....there are legions of followers...I consider them a cult. LOL

Pssst...I have imagined that the followers use q-snaps and are frequent "bobbinaters". LOL

HAED is the abbreviation for “Heaven and Earth Designs” which ECS and other websites sell their patterns. They also have their own website. These patterns are beautiful, full of detail but just one of them can take you From 10 months to 2 years or more depending on how much time you spend stitching it. HAED patterns are usually done on 25-count fabric and stitching ‘over 1’.

LOL...LOVE THOSE CULTISTS! :) one person's nightmare is another's dream moment! Gives me the shivers...LOL

and to ADD to the insanity, the HAED website can ENLARGE the pattern PLUS ‘MAXIMIZE the colors’ so a stitcher is using More DMC floss colors. The pattern being enlarged or ‘Max Colors’ is an additional cost above the cost of the pattern.

Wonder if chains, leathers, and masks come with those? :)

If your curious, go to their website and type in their ‘search’
Leonid Afremov which will take you to this artist’s patterns:
Then go to a pattern called ‘Quiet Town” and look at the finished pattern size and floss Colors needed THEN find the same pattern that says, “Quiet Town MAX COLOR” and look at the finished pattern size and floss colors needed...
As soon as you get done screaming from the shock, come see us!!! :)
