Snow Shoveling @%!!***@@**!!
Just finished shoveling our drive and sidewalk. The drive is a rear entrance garage so quite long and back by the garage it turns into a lot of shoveling! We only had about 2.5 inches so it wasn't too bad. When we get more, my neighbor behind us does the drive with his snow blower - thank goodness! Actually, the snow blower was originally ours, but after Dad passed away I gave it to Rick because it was too powerful for me - I had to practically run with it to keep up. Anyway, guys and their toys means he doesn't mind doing it.
BTW, just heard on the news we are expecting more snow any time now and through the night - enough already!!!

Ah, but just think of all the lovely calories you burned shoveling that snow!!! Christmas cookie, anyone? :)

We are expecting some ice and snow tonight. I remember when I got my snow blower. My son and daughters boyfriend couldn't wait to use it. Where do you live?

We had just enough snow on Saturday to remind people they forgot how to drive. We saw two who had kissed the guardrails on our way home from the park. They are saying we will get some snow tonight, but we normally don’t get nearly as much as they do east of us. Our snow blower is gassed up and ready to go, just in case.

Golly, I thought snow-blowers were the Northeners answer to riding mowers...one in every garage with more than 10 sq ft of grass. :)

Hadn't thought about calories burned - bring on the cookies!!!
Surt, I live about 20 miles north of Detroit, thank goodness we are not expecting ice, just snow.
Jaj - It does amaze me how people forget to drive in the stuff since it hasn't even been a full year since the last snow!
VCESS - I wish I had one, but with the size of our drive it has to be so powerful (to throw the snow about 30' in the back)that I can't control it, especially on turns. The last time I used it (about 6 years ago) I ended up doing a lot of the street trying to turn! πŸ™„ So as long as our neighbor is willing to do it I will let him!

LOL! Then you need a backup guy for when it's less than 3"! :)

If we get any snow on the ground and I mean 1/4” or 1/2” that will melt completely by 11 a.m. ALL MYRTLE BEACH, South Carolina Schools and most businesses are closed for the entire day!!! It is fascinating to watch! I give them credit of thinking of safety of everyone but My memory still remembers driving to work in blizzards and being on the road for 2+ hours trying to get home! UGH!

Bermuda, I have driven in all types as well, and unfortunately still doing it! Last night we had about 5 more inches and my snow blower neighbor is coming over this morning to do the drive and he will do most of the walk - I'll just have to do by the step to the porch.
I remember one holiday when my folks, sister and I (my brother was in the service) drove out to Colorado to go skiing. The first day we planned to get to Lincoln, Nebraska. All was well until it was my turn to drive - we only had about 80 miles to go ( just east of Council Bluffs, Iowa). I got behind the wheel and snow started to fall lightly, as soon as we crossed from Iowa to Nebraska it was a blizzard. The last 50 miles took us about 3 hours. Dad would reach out to snap the wipers it was coming down so hard and building up so fast. My sister (who was in junior high school then) kept giving encouragement - "You're doing well, we aren't dead yet!" We were out in the middle of farm country so no where to stop. Obviously made it, but not a drive I want to do again. My fingers were so tight on the steering wheel I thought we'd have to pry them off when we stopped. It was amazing since we had a fully loaded car - a Cadillac Seville - and it felt as though it was a fly weight through that storm. When we got up the next morning to continue the trip, the roads were cleared, but piled as high as the car.

VCESS, my plan for a backup is waiting for the neighbor kids to get a bit older, then I will pay them!!!! Of course, so many kids in this age don't really want to do work for money - they just want the money!

I try to avoid driving through squalls and blizzards these days if I can.
When I was younger it didn't bother me as much. However, I'm sure after some of those drives, my hair would be standing on end and I would have to peel my hands from the steering wheel! 😲
