British Mags
Does anyone subscribe to "Cross Stitch Gold " or World of Cross Stitch? I am not going to renew my sub. to Gold but I am going to subscribe again to World of Cross Stitch because every month they put something free. The mags were my Christmas present. I remember that years ago America had a few mags (which I saved). My husband does not get that my mags (dating back to the 80s} are full of designs. Does anyone know Alma Lynnes patterns? Anyhow I am hiding my stash of mags so they do not get thrown away. I m kind of kidding. I wonder if you all frame your own work or have it done by others.

I usually have my stuff framed at a local craft store ... like Michaels. I did however, frame my first piece the other day and it turned out pretty well. :) It was a small piece using a thrift store frame that I sanded and repainted and a matching mat from the local craft store, so minimal cost, just elbow grease to do it. I used to subscribe to a cross stitch magazine many years ago, but have not used them in a long time. There are so many wonderful sites like ECS, HAED and Artecy that have more patterns than I can ever hope to do, and they are always having sales and some have free charts on occasion. This chat also provides instant help and information for any questions people have from some very knowledgeable stitchers. But, with that said .... I still have some of those old magazines ... mainly because they have the Jannlynn fruit bell pull spread over 4 issues that I may one day get around to working. :D

I subscribe to both! The UK mags are great. Big, colorful and lots of detail. I frame my work in a way. I attach mine to a canvas. Here's a pic of one I did for my oldest daughter and stapled it to a canvas. Good luck!

I subscribe to World of Cross Stitch and really love it! I get the majority of my pattern s and materials from ECS. I never really enjoyed Cross Stitch Gold . The majority of my pieces Are framed. Linda

I don't subscribe to the UK mags, but check them out at local Books-a- Million, buy it to add to my stash. I too have several years of U S Mags in 3 ring binders lining our shared with mywife--reading TV craft room. I will have to live to 200 years old to just complete some of the patterns I flagged. But such inspiration!!!!! and challenge!!!!!

I usually get WOXS every January as a gift from my DH. Once in a while, I buy Cross Stitch Gold at our local JoAnns store.
I like World of Cross Stitch more than XSG, but every once in a great while, I see something in XSG that I really like and that results from them putting magazines near the cash register and there is always a long line. I used to get two U.S. mags, and liked Cross Stitch and Country Crafts over Just Cross Stitch. I mostly frame my own work. I had to admit that none are great stitching heirlooms, except for the Christmas stockings. My DH mostly gives me free range on patterns and floss. I have too much stash and will need to live to well over 400 (used to say 100) to stitch it all. 2018 is the year to de-stash.

Has anyone subscribed to "Just Cross Stitch?" I would be interested in your thoughts about that publication.

I have World of Cross Stitching, Cross Stitch Crazy and The Cross Stitcher put away for me every month at local book stores. I may buy Cross Stitch Gold if I see something I really like but don't really care for the magazine. Same for Just Cross Stitch. I do get the Just Cross Stitch Halloween and Christmas ornaments put aside for me. If I ever get a free Saturday I'm taking about 200 magazines and some books to the Salvation Army.

I bought a few Cross stitcher magazines at Walmart over the years. It usually came with some sort of gift, either a small kit or cross stitch tool. I have only done 1 pattern out of them... a ring bearer pillow for my wedding 3 years ago. There are several in there I would like to do, but like many on here I have far to many on the go right now to do another one!

Judy I have some Just Cross Stitch magazines that I bought yearsssssssssssssss ago. I just never cared for it as a whole. My problem now is that I live in a small town where even Walmart does not carry any stitching mags. They have a Hobby Lobby in Paris, Tx about 30 miles away but they do not carry stitching mags. That is why I subscribed to the two British mags through amazon. Thank goodness for the internet and ECS.

I got a one year trial subscription of Cross stitch Gold, but also did not renew. For years I've been getting Just Cross stitch and have all the ornament issue going back to 1999. I am not very interested in this years ornament issue and there is not anything i care to stitch in it. I also was subscribing to the Stoney Creek magazine. I was subscribing to Cross Stich and country Crafts until they stopped publishing. I worked at the Salvation Army Thrift Store until they went out of business. While working there i bought a lot of the donated for sale a lot of Cross Stitch and Country going back to the eighties. Now I am saturated with thread, charts, fabric. and magazines and not going to live to be 300 to do everything that i want to stitch so I want to start selling on Ebay. I just have no way of getting to the post office int the winter unless i take a cab. The cab fare would cross out any profit from the sale.
