Stitching Order
I have started stitching this beautiful picture. I started in the center like I'm supposed to. I'm working down on page 13. I'm wondering since there is so much green in the picture if I work down to page 18. then start some of the green or work over to page 14 and 15 to start the green. can I come back and finish the Cardinal?

You can stitch over from one section to another if you want. For example you can do two rows of stitches from Page 14 and then continue on to the same two rows on page 15. DO NOT attempt to go from Page 18 directly to Page 14. You are likely to get off a group of stitches somewhere in between. Hope you understand my explanation.

Katey,
This is so pretty. I love cardinals. Always was told someone is visiting you from heaven to say hello when you see a cardinal!

I wouldn't jump around much if I didn't grid my fabric. If you did, no problem. 😊

I am at the edge of page 13. Can I safely move over to 14 or do I need to finish all of page 13 first?

When I am doing a large project with a lot of pages (like the one I am doing now with 24 pages) I always work the 3 rows that they show that overlap onto the next page so that my stitches will line up when I get to that page. It is a real help for me. I do not gird my projects because it takes too much time to do and I can count and highlight my pattern as I go. I always make a copy of my pattern just for that purpose so the original is always clean.

I love how this cardinal has his head tipped to one side.

Katy, there is no rule that says you have to start in the center of the design as you mentioned in your original post. I never do. I always count up from the center to the very top row, and then over to the left corner and I start there. I work back to the right and down, which would be your page 1. If some of your rows of color extend into page 2, by all means stitch them, you do not have to stop just because the page ends. I sometimes work 3 pages at a time (that is all I can fit on my magnetic board and keep straight). Or since you've already stitched most of the cardinal you can work out either right or left from there. As long as you keep your pages aligned, you can move from one page to the others as you please. Just don't skip pages.

And yes, Chatters, I realize this topic is a year old, but since she's continuing in the same vein as her original post, I thought it okay to answer. My first clue was that VCESS had posted a response. Where is VCESS?!! 😊
