myreeann, Where it says "view item"...click on that it will take you to the description page for the item with all the info. It recommends a dusty green linen. I am a Stitcher in the chat room and happen to LOVE Lavender & Lace projects! Good luck to you!

Hi,
First, I want you to type in ‘Lavender and Lace cross Stitch charts” to find some websites. When you get to websites, carefully scroll down them and find
“Lavender and Lace- Butternut Road-“, Tap on it and it should take you to Butternut Road website. Once you are there look for ‘Lanvender and Lace” Collection and tap on it. The next screen should show a listing of all the Lavender and Lace “charts. Scroll down...I believe your picture is the ‘Celtic Christmas’ pattern, so tap on it which will take you to a screen that shows you the chart picture and if you read through it, it WILL tell you what Fabric Count AND name of fabric that was used on the model
Picture. Hope this helps!

Well Jerseycrafter, hope she follows your easier suggestion. I sent her to the “Lavender and Lace - Butternut Road” website for the information.
What can I say? Seems as the percentage of my I-Pad battery goes down ( now at 12%) so goes the thought process....🙄

Bermuda, "no worries" as they say in Australia!! Going to their web site IS the best way to see everything. Actually, I discovered this little trick by accident. I wasn't really contributing to the Chat Room when they "upgraded" it. So, lots of folks I think learned neat little tricks I knew nothing about!! By the way.....how are you progressing on Sacred Hour? I am going to begin one of these "challenging" over one projects soon!

Thanks for asking but I’ve hit a bit of a ‘dry spell’ with Sacred Hour and stitching in general. Too much of Life’s concerns has been taking my time away from stitching.
BUT 😃 you know me! It won’t last long and it hasn’t stopping me from ‘bobbinating’ floss skeins.
You are going to start an ‘over one’ soon?
Which project are you going to do?

The Told in A Garden website is full of useful information. One problem is that these designs are so old now that several of the fabrics and threads (such as Needlepaints) used for the models are no longer made. I believe the Wichelt Dusty Green linen is one of these, but I think they still make it in Jobelan.

Bermuda, the "one over" patterns I have are: "The Toy Box" by Dona Gelsinger (Heaven & Earth) and..."Portrait of Father Xmas" by Dean Morrissey (also Heaven and Earth). I followed your advice and will work these on 25 count Laguna. I have the fabric for both of these and now see what you mean about being able to "more easily see" the stitches . I usually work on Linen but I now realize that since I am going over only "one" thread in the fabric I may stand a chance of not going blind. Now.....comes the real "kicker". Last night I was fishing around on the Heaven & Earth website. I wound up ordering "Away in a Manger" and the "Angel, Lion & Lamb" both by Dona Gelsinger. She has the most wonderful gift for painting human faces! So....once they arrive I will have to decide!! If I start Father Xmas in the upper left corner, I am going to have a lot of "dark" work in doing the background before I get down to the colors....so....I may start and go back to it when I tire of the background!! Hope your "dry spell" goes away soon. I know you will feel spiritually uplifted once you begin again!

Thanks jersey- it will pass.
Just a couple of tips: if you are using Just one strand of floss over one square, do not pull the floss too tight when doing your X’s, even on 25-count, or you’ll see that your first / will actually become a | in the square. I’m not saying do too loose, but keep it in mind. I have had it happen to me occasionally and made a note of it in my mind.
Second, if you start your project stitching in upper left corner - after measuring where your first ‘starting’ stitch will go- you might consider stitching the very TOP two rows of the whole pattern from top left corner to top right corner. By doing so, this gives you two things:
1) you can hold your fabric up and see if the pattern is
Centered on your fabric
2) with the first two top rows completed, there might be
an area that you can stitch that won’t be all that very
dark area that you can work on when you want to get
Away from it. As you can see on ‘Sacred Hour’ picture, I
have lighter areas in the middle and right side of
The project I can stitch when I get tired of stitching the
very dark area on the left.....
But keep those small projects handy when you don’t
want to work on the big project at all. :)

Bermuda, Thank you so much. I will follow your kind advice. Yesterday, I was on the Scarlet Quince website wherein I reviewed advice about doing this type of stitching. They also caution about the tension. Thank you for posting the picture of Sacred Hour.....it is just stunning. Best of luck to you as you continue!
