The Bookshelf sampler
Instead of using Linen can I use fiddlers cloth 14 ct or 18 ct? I do not like counted cross stitching on linen. I prefer all Aidas counts and fiddlers cloth.

I have not counted cross stitch in years but I love doing samplers and this will be a gift.

There is no law that says you have to follow the designer's SUGGESTED supply list. I think that fiddlers cloth would be perfect for this particular pattern. You can still use the same floss colors or switch them out as you please. If you decide to stitch on 14 count the finished size will be the same as 28 count over two. ENJOY!

I agree with Nancy about you picking out what YOU like both in floss and material color. I've just come back to cross stitch after about 25 years off and I am amazed at all the colors not only in floss but also in material colors. At ECS they have material charts that you can look at and see the different colors. Anyhow, just enjoy.
