Will work up just like cotton, but possibly be easier to clean. Many of the evenweave fabrics are part acrylic or other.

Thank you for your reply!!! I have worked with aida cloth & stamped crossstitch , what i really want to know, is there holes in the cloth as in the aida cloth which makes it easy to place the stitches or is it like afghan stitches in crocheting. Do i need to put a backing on the finished afghan.

It's like evenweave, where you count up 2 threads & over 2 threads. I don't know about the backing. I have one of this fabric to stitch & will probably have the same question. Several long-time quilters respond on this site; they will have an answer for backing.

I am a quilter as well as a cross stitcher. If I was making this for a baby to use I would put low loft batting and a cotton backing on it. I would tie it with DMC floss. You could also use fusible interfacing on the back instead of batting and backing.

Syagel, I want mine light, for a Summer throw. Will skip the batting, but the rest sounds good.

Sjesi48 any time you have a question about cross stitching feel free to post here on the chat room. There are several of us experienced stitchers that love helping any one with a question. I have made more mistakes and ripped out more stitches than I like to think about. Just enjoy the hobby.

You will be fine. The kit will give you instructions & all the materials. Stitch it on a hoop, one letter at a time. And remember it's s hobby, so take a deep breath & smile!
