I would say a #24 needle for 14 Aida cloth (although if you are doing the kit with 3 strands of floss, perhaps a 26)

I don't know if there are longer needles that might be easier. So long as they are blunt, so they naturally want to enter a hole instead of pierce the thread.

I agree, 67 is too young for a stroke. 55 is too young for arthritis in my hands!

I never use tapestry needles for my cross stitching. I only use sharp regular embroidery needles especially if I have 1/4 and 3/4 stitches in my pattern. I use sizes 5 -9 depending on how many strands of loss I need. I know a lot of you use tapestry needles but to me they are worthless. Very nice pattern.

Sorry about your stroke. I am 66 and have arthritis and asthma. My husband used to say to me "ain't it fun getting old?".

There are some "easy threading" needles. I've never used, so can' t rate.

I used needle size 26 and 28 for this project. Yet as an afterthought, I would suggest you use a variety, particularly since you will be required to use three stands with some of the the half-stitch options. The end product was very pleasing as it was significant - a celebration of my daughter's marriage last summer by the seashore. Enjoy this project Judy and may you recuperate quickly and remain well. Best, GCS
