question on this kit?
good evening everyone,
i'm using 18ct fabric and this kit calls for 2 strands of floss on the cross stitch and 4 strands on the half stitches. to me it seems like too much. what do you think. have a good evening ROBIN

Very unusual! Are the half stitches the purple under the chairs? You might try them as full 2-strand crosses, as well, to see which looks better. Halves have a slant, which could be wanted. Cute kit. Nice size!

I agree with jlhewes. If I was doing it I would try the area that calls for 4 strands for half cross stitches I would try using 2 strands and do full cross stitches. I have done that on patterns that called for 2 strand half stitches and it worked out. It does seem unusual to use 4 strands for those stitches. Whichever works for you will be the best.

I did ut as the directions said and it gave very nuce shading and movement to the picture. Do not regret following the directions. They give you plenty of sting.

I have completed this kit, per instructions, and it came out great. The hardest part is getting the 4-5 strands threaded for the half stitches, and then pulling/jerking the threads throughout the holes...but, it did turn out nice.

I would assume the half-stitches are the water & the sky ... which is why the colour is so intense. As far as threading 4 strands of floss, just thread two strands & double for a loop on the backside (instead of using a knot)

Yes, for even numbered strands, the loop works, but I think the kit calls for some 3 or 5 strands per stitch...the 5 was the hard one.

I really prefer loop (or "doubling,' as needlepointers call it). I would probably even up the 3-strand & 5-strand stitches.
