Number of colors
I am waiting for this pattern to arrive. I have done cross stitch before, however never this large or with so many colors. I usually get all the floss and put it on the cards with 12 holes down the side. Since that will take more then 7 cards maybe I should start with the cat in the center and pull only the colors required for it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I know what you mean about so many different colors. I have been stitching for over 30 years and have a stash of all 400 plus colors of DMC floss. I have wound all of them on plastic bobbins and have them in plastic thread boxes. I have 6 boxes full plus I also have extra skeins of the DMC floss I use most often. All of my supplies are in a roll around stack of drawers that sits by my sewing chair so they are handy and organized.

If you are seriously getting into cross stitching you might want to start your own stash so you don't have to buy the colors each time and have them organized. I have done Mystic Stitch patterns. They are large, but not real complicated. If you take your time you will be just fine. Good Luck and enjoy. Very cute pattern.

If you do decide to start your own stash if you live near a JoAnn Fabric's store and get their coupons you can get your supplies very cheaply.

I am so happy to get a reply. I was afraid it was a really silly question. I know what you mean about having alot from other patterns, etc. Several years ago I found a Christmas tree ornament box (I'm sure that is one of many uses) that comes apart in layers and each layer is divided into boxes about the length of a skein. I divide my colors by numbers, all the 100's in one box, all the 200's in another, etc. I usually pull all the colors I need first, but with this pattern it may be one cat at a time.
I started in the early 60's by cross stitching a preprinted table cloth for my mother, if I remember correctly it only had 2 or 3 colors.
Thanks again, it was good hearing from you!

Maryland Stitcher there are no such things as silly questions. I have been stitching a very long time, but I still learn new things all the time. Don't be afraid to ask questions here. We are all happy to help each other. One thing you will find is there are so many patterns here it will be hard to choose. Since I have found this website I have bought more patterns than I will be able to finish unless I live to 150. LOL
