Hello all! (fairly new to the site)
I've made a few purchases here in 2013, but with a new job, I haven't been able to find the time for stitching. Recently my hours have become more 9-5 and I had time to clean out some closets, and I found my old finished projects. While I was taking them to get framed, I caught the bug again! I made a $100+ purchase just now, including this pattern, ALL the DMC floss it needs, floss organizers, and even the Adjustable Floor Standing Scroll Frame (it had a really good review--if anyone else can confirm, that'd be aces). I also checked out your google drive and everything looks fantastic.

There is probably a 50/50 chance I won't be able to finish this project before my job starts having me pull all nighters again, but I'm super excited. If I do a hundred stitches a day, it'll only take me... two years. Ha ha.

I hope to come here often, and nice to meet you all!

Jellokat welcome to this chat room. Look forward to hearing from you often. I have been stitching for over 30 years and find it so stress relieving even if I only get to do it a little each day. Since I retired I must admit that I have been able spend more time doing it. if you have questions feel free to come here and ask. We are all willing to help when we can. Once again welcome.

You will find that this website has lots of really good patterns. I keep finding new ones to purchase all the time. My wish list keeps getting longer.

Hi! I am working this pattern, too! I thought 100 stitches a day would be a breeze...HA! I started in the center, as have always done....quickly figured I needed something that didn't require changing my colors every second stitch! :) But am blissfully satisfied with all the colors blending, coalescing into what I think will be the best thing I have ever done......LOVE VAN GOGH! I'm 4 months into this and still love it! Working other stuff, too....I really like Halloween! You're going to love this site, too! They're all a little "buggy"! :)

syagel - nice to meet you! my wish list is overflowing as well... I stopped myself to just one pattern & the floss needed, and I'm trying to resist the beckoning. Currently I'm working on a 5"x7" sized Dimensions, Inc. kit that I bought at the art shop where I took my completed projects to get framed--hopefully it can hold me off until my ECS shipment arrives!

Hi Jellokat and Welcome! We are all big happy family here and love to chat and help others and each other. Please come often and chat with us.

It's not quantity of the project, it's the quality. We all agree that we stitch for the pleasure it gives us and it relieves the stress first. Secondly, we love giving our love ones our projects that we put our heart and soul into, which gives us even more pleasure (when they appreciate it).

I, too, have a huge stash of projects lined up and even larger stash in my wishlist. I WILL get to it all - someday. I will have to come back from the dead to finish it. You know they say that ghosts are spirits that come back b'c they have unfinished business - well, that will be me!!!

Again, Welcome to our site Jellokat.

vcess - nice to meet you and I'm glad to hear someone is in the process of working on this pattern! I can't wait to see how it would look.

I ordered a 25"x36" cut of 14ct aida--I think I'm going to cut it to 25"x21" and start on the lower left hand corner (with a 1.8" border)... what do you think? I usually like to start in the middle too, but on the chit chat board for the Mystic Stitch version it says "The center 100 spaces (10 x 10) has over 25 colors"... this, and what you just told me, is definitely going to make me avoid the middle.

I wrote all this and realized the person who posted that was you!! XD

Hi jclifford! Thanks so much for the warm welcome.

Personally, I've never given anyone my finished projects, except to my parents (and that was when I was young and still living with them, therefore the wall hangings and cushions were still around me) and my husband... I should start being more generous with them and actually creating projects with loved ones in mind. Hopefully they would appreciate it.

...Not this one though. If I ever finish it, it'll be all mine. ;) How will I ever wait for this? I should've sprung for expedited shipping. Sigh.

LOL, it'll be there soon. It's definitely worth the wait. I'm always sitting on pins when I order something, I can't wait to see it and play with it first before I begin. I may not begin that project for a long time or may do it immediately, but the anticipation is definitely worth it!!!

Welcome, jellokat! And congratulations on your excellent pattern purchase. You can wait for it. Just get everything ready so you can start as soon as it arrives. syagel and jclifford are correct. There are many experienced stitchers offering tips and exchanging ideas. I only do this blog and miss my buddies when I have to take a few days off due to other obligations.
You are doing the smart thing by holding on to your projects. If you do decide to part with them make sure that they find a home where they will be appreciated.
I can't remember if I've mentioned this before but I believe that a very old sampler was valued at $30,000 on the Antiques Road Show. I love this show but always forget to watch it. DH and I were faithful watchers every Monday night for almost 6 years. Then we moved to Dallas and somehow stopped watching it regularly.
Only goes to show how valuable our work can become. LOL

Jellokat, I love your enthusiasm!

Don't cut your fabric too narrow...I have mine on a 30" wide frame....You want to leave plenty of edge to have it framed. And please don't be intimidated by what I said about the center, there seems to be a couple of different sets of patterns and I have no idea how similar they are. But those 27 colors...yep, there are 27 in my center 100....are just one color at a time. No sweat. The back doesn't look like anything I've done before, but I decided that is just something I will do my best about and that will have to be good enough....besides, the front is lovely!

You're going to love this project! :)

Does anyone know someone who has finished it?

Texas Stitcher - nice to meet you! Wow, $30,000? That is outrageous. Maybe it's something like this? http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p01pfdk7 (I can't listen to the video at work, but it's a massive sampler that seems to be done with many different crafts). Anyway, it's pretty cool.

Vcess - thanks for the advice. I will make sure to leave 3" for border, as is the norm... I usually get off-the-rack frames for my 5x7 to 11x14 projects, but this one--when (if) I finish it--will deserve a fancy custom frame!
