Still . . .
Been working on this since August, approximately 10 hrs per day, every day (it is now November 15th). Got to within 2 inches of completion and ran out of 5 colors that I could not match with DMC thread! Have had to order extra from factory and they said 3 to 5 weeks! One would think they could put enough thread in their kits to complete the project! Have tons of one color left and short on 10 colors! Dimensions say that they do not use DMC thread and you have to get extra directly from them! Why make this so bloody hard!

I was working on this for a Christmas present for my daughter and her husband (avid hunters) and was well on my way to completing it in time to have matted and framed. Now, I'm dead in the water until the 'factory' gets around to sending me my thread!

I love the detail of Dimension kits, but this is the second one I have done (Butterfly Forest being the first one) and I also ran into the same problem with THAT one! WOULD BE NICE IF DIMENSION COULD GET STORES TO CARRY THEIR THREADS!

Anyone else have any suggestions re this problem? I tried to match with DMC but could not find a close enough match to make it look good. And, because this has taken me SOOOOOOO long to get this far, no way am I going to mess it up by not matching thread! It is beautiful, though!

What a beautiful piece you are doing. I have seen this issue time and again with the Dimensions kits and it seems this happens on a regular basis according to what I have read online from other stitchers. Not that this suggestion will help you at this moment, but if you're an avid stitcher I always retain the remaining thread left over from all of my completed kits---Bucilla, Janlynn, etc. I have also heard that the thread numbers for Dimensions kits can vary and be one color in one kit and another color in a different kit. Cyberstitchers.com has a thread conversion list to DMC but if you already tried it yourself, you may not find a close enough match. The only thing left to do is check some of your other Dimensions kits, started or unstarted if you have a stash, to see if you can find a match and you can always sub the closest DMC match in the unstarted kit if you do find a match for your current piece. Good luck in your quest.

Again I must be the luckiest stitcher. I have done many Dimension kits and have never run out nor have I had trouble with the floss. In fact I usually have some left over. After a kit I sometimes save the patterns, but everything else gets tossed.

I also ran out of a couple of colors on this one. I did find a color conversion chart at the Dimensions web site that could be helpful. www.dimensions-cross-stitch.com on the left side of the home page click on "charts, threads, fabric" the next page has a title " LINKS " and right below that are links to thread conversion chart in either PDF or .XLS formats. The chart references DMC and Anchor colors which may vary slightly due to dye lots etc. but should be close enough not to show. The colors on this design are pretty random so if it is not exact it is OK.

I too have run out of Dimension floss, especially on kits made in the last few years. I have the Dimension to DMC conversion chart and convert all my new Dimension projects to DMC. If you don't get the needed floss from the company let me know the Dimension color numbers you need. I have a stash of Dimension floss accumulated over many years, and would be glad to share with you. NB; when I tried to get floss from Dimension they never sent it. All that being said, I still use Dimension charts because they are extremely well designed (I usually redesign them and use partial stitches - while I always backstitch, my redesigns indicate clearly the outlines of the things in the pattern); I still often find Dimension charts the best available and usually take much less time. I find them especially useful for family events. Good luck

Carol P, have you contacted Dimensions? I never had a problem getting additional floss from them. I wouldn't use another brand until I had exhausted all avenues. It will show. In my opinion, conversion charts should only be used if you plan to use another brand of floss for the entire project. Good luck.

PS Let them know displeased you are and that you will never purchase another kit from them. We control the purse strings. Without us they would not be in business.

I made a birth sampler (friend's grandson).. when the second grandson came along, I planned to make a second & match to the first; slight color changes only for name, date, weight etc..
wrote and asked Dimensions for supplies... was told patterns are made for one time use only & I would have to buy another kit... needless to say, I converted whole pattern to DMC floss colors for the second sampler, without basic color problems.. will have to really like something to purchase another Dimensions product.. poor customer service on their part..

Dear JR WILSON 229:
Thank you so much for your offer of Dimension floss to complete my project (Winter Woodland). It has been 4 weeks since I asked Dimensions to send me some additional floss to complete my project and it STILL has not arrived. This was going to be a Christmas present for my daughter and her husband this year and it looks like it will not be completed in time. I really do need the following colors as I have not been able to find a close enough match for them to complete:
14223 Purple
17977 Lt. Blue
18514 Dk Grey
18513 Lt. Grey

I need approximately 3 strands of each if possible.

Please let me know if you can help. My email address is cphillips52@gmail.com

Thank you so much for your help!

I now make it a habit to keep all descent lengths of floss until I complete project.. (if this is a kit & not pattern only) I think I sometime stitch in unconventional way & may use more floss than the patter would require if conventionally stitched;

but in this case of "out of floss" it is unbelievely the company has not replied to you..
Good luck..

I have some of those colors. (check your e-mail) as I have said before, the designs of this project are so random that it doesn't have to match the pattern exactly. I put them in the mail. I hope they help. It is coming from the Pacific NW so maybe you should have them by Saturday.

I save my finished Dimensions kit remainders and will check to see if I have any of the colors you are in need of. If I do, I will note what I have here and send onto you so you will know what you still need.

I have checked my Dimensions stash and cannot believe that all the purples and grays I have are off by 2 digits +/- from the shades you are needing. So sorry I could not find a match in my supply.
