I am looking for large letter patterns.
Hello all!

I've been looking around forever and haven't yet found this so I thought I would try here. I am looking to cross stitch the letter 'M' and the letter 'L' only. Each letter needs to be at least 12 inches tall as they are going to be framed and hung above the bed on mine and my husbands side. I can't find a pattern anywhere. If you ladies (or gentlemen) know of where I can find or buy such a pattern I would be thrilled.

Thank you for taking the time to look at this post and God bless!

Have you checked here? They have Gothic letters that are pretty big. Under "Browse Project Themes / Classical / Alphabets"

Jlhewes is correct. There are several alphabet projects here on ECS and you can enlarge them to whatever size you need if you can't find the size you need.

Library books are a source, but you can't keep them and mark in them. Most libraries don't have a lot of books on cross stitching. Looking on cross stitching websites like the one here are so much better.

I have a crazy answer for you.
Are you old enough to remember how coloring books use to have tracing paper so you could trace the picture. With that in mind, consider this.
I just finished an alphabet design I wanted. Though it may be backward for some, it worked for me. My sampler was french words. I searched everywhere for just the right alphabet. but I couldn't find the right size. So. I went to my computer.
I chose the font I wanted. Chose the size I wanted. Then printed it from my computer.
Next, I took counted cross stitch graph paper (I purchased a pad that has a variety of counts at my local cross stitch store).
I then taped the printed saying I wanted to the window (so the sun shown through the pattern).
I taped the graph paper over the letters Lining it up the way I wanted with the count I wanted and
traced the pattern that showed through with a pencil.
After I traced all the lines. I took the patterns down and a chart was born!
Stitching was a breeze.
I got the size, font, and color I wanted for truly a one of a kind piece.
I am very happy with it, and would do it again.
I have learned sometimes old school still works
Good luck.

I haven't found any fonts I like so I may just try the tracing method! That sound like it will work perfect as I am searching for a very elegant script. Thank you!

You are welcome. I hope you have a wonderful sunny day. The most important thing I found was to use counted cross stitch grid paper. That way the grid size will match your visual needs and match your final product needs. "pour lamoure de la couture" (for the love of sewing). or in my case...stitching : ) Post how it goes. I'll be interested to hear how it works for you!
